Peyton has redefined the position of quarterback. Before Peyton, the quarterback got the plays in from the coach, and directed everyone where to go. Very rarely would they audible to another play. Now, quarterbacks direct the whole offense. Like I said before, usually the coach gives the quarterback 2 or 3 plays to run at his best judgement
another clipping.. there are tons. Just google if you want to become more educated.

Bleacher Report article from 2009 written by a random fan
from the same article:
Seriously, read the article you just posted.
Once again, if it is so obvious, give me YOUR reasons/argument for how he changed the QB position
from the same article:
quote:
This all started with the success that occurred when Tony Dungy attempted this system with Manning. I don't know if it was actually in play before(I expect it was), but without Peyton Manning's success, I don't think the position of quarterback would have evolved this far.

yeah, a quote from an article. I also gave a quote from a hall of famer saying the same thing, and someone else linked an article from espn. Like i said, there are countless ones out there saying the same thing people have said for years. Now that we know you can use google, you can read all you want on the subject. Because im not sure what you are asking for here, a notarized letter from the commish or what.

him good qb
him throw lots passes
him changes lot of plays
him can read defense
him an on field coach
him did things at line of scrimmage that never been done
him good
him real good
him throw lota tds
him throw lota yds
Since we are having discussions like 8 yr olds.

quote:That's the thing. People have been saying it for years and I've been hearing it for years. I just want someone to explain how he revolutionized the position (eta: with some support). Repeating that he has revolutionized the position doesn't explain how.
Like i said, there are countless ones out there saying the same thing people have said for years.
Even in the article posted by lsupride, all the stuff that we credit Peyton for doing (shotgun heavy offense, pass-first pass-often offense), other teams were doing it already and doing more of it. Did Peyton bring about these changes, or was the league heading in that direction already?
Maybe it's the audibles. I searched google for history of audibles but couldn't find anything worth a shite.
I just want someone to explain what Peyton did differently than other QBs. That article might be out there somewhere. I was just hoping someone who said "every knows he revolutionized the position" (or something to that effect) would be able to tell me.

I'm sorry for asking him to support, as he stated, a well known way Manning changed the way the QB position is played instead of just saying because it is well known
quote:
There have been 4 reasons quoted from my article that he alluded to,
Where did he allude or address those? I responded to YOUR post btw
quote:
and then he posted two other reasons.
What 2 other reasons did he post exactly?
quote:

Derp
Please show me where he gave reasons Peyton changed the QB position.
Nothing up my arse, but his dick seems to be in yours

Basically matches your usual posting history and logic.
Peyton Manning changed the QB position, because it is well known Peyton Manning changed the QB position. IT IS ON GOOGLE!!!!
My bad for asking you to support your statement with actual reasons.

The multiple audibles
The qb calling the whole offense
the multiple shotgun sets
the completely forming your entire franchise on the qb
the running the same set of 4 plays in multiple sets
the qb studying defenses much much more than ever before
Yes, some of those things were done before. But I and others are of the opinion that Peyton brought these things to the forefront of popularity in the NFL. Disagree if you want, but if you ask for reasons one more time I am e-kicking your arse at Sonic

No one had ever did the thing peyton did. No one had ever been given the kind of control peyton had. He is an on field coach, he is the offensive coordinator, he calls his own plays based on what he sees. Not just some audible to his wristband with a few plays on it. He changes things at the LOS, blocking, routes, everything based on what he sees. These things were not done near to that extreme before manning came along. It was a run heavy league, peyton changed that. I mean im not sure how old you are, or if you watched nfl before 2000, bu it wasnt near as pass heavy as it is now.

If by he did enough to win, you mean Von Miller did enough for him to win, sure.

Wasn't new to the NFL. Was there in the 80's. You should read up on Paul Brown

quote:I gave support to show the shotgun progression. That same article shows the shift to passing first instead of run offenses. I refuse to link you showing how much more QBs get paid as a percentage as before-this one is too obvious. I also do not believe you really need to be liked to the fact that Peyton was one of the first QBs to call entire drives from the field. I have linked reasons, as well as support. You and tigerbait seem to want me to CONVINCE you, which I cant. But to say reasons have not been posted is asinine
I just want some sort of support for it.
