KK, really appreciate it. Right now all we have at the apartment is two Apple TVs. What's your suggestion as far as the easies hardware to run with Kodi? Can we have connected, say apple tv and firestck, at the same time ... or would i need to unplug one or the other to run them.

Fire TV and Apple TV are plugged into your TV by HDMI inputs. If you have a spare HDMI input, you should be fine.

As far as easier equipment, I suggest a Fire TV. It's just as easy as the Fire Stick, but $100. Stick is $40. But the Fire TV runs a lot smoother and it's naturally faster being that you can hardwire it.

If your main TV is out of reach to hardwire your Fire TV, maybe a stick would be your best bet. Just depends on how much usage you plan on putting into it.

I'm not sure..probably the functionality with an Iphone (apple) and Android (fire tv).

Each device offers certain things that the other doesn't.

For instance, Apple TV doesn't offer Playstation Vue's app. Fire TV does.

Here's a comparison table of more popular apps available on AppleTV, Roku, Chromecast, Amazon Fire (Stick/TV), and Android.

What you can watch on Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast and Android TV

I would say, if you are wanting to go the Kodi route: you'll still need a Amazon Fire (Stick/TV) or Android device to plug into a spare HDMI port and stream. Basically: With AppleTV and ROKU you can get the more popular streaming apps, but will need a subsription. With a device running KODI....with some work, you can stream/find any movie and/or tv series, but for free.

In regards to the difference between the Fire TV and the Stick, even if you are going to be using wireless- if you can afford the extra money definitely but the Fire TV.

The stick is serviceable, but if you are using it as a primary device, you will get irritated with the lag pretty quickly.

Is there a way to hard wire a Roku Streaming Stick? t works fine in one room but not another even though it is closer to the router. What would i need to do this? I bought a wifi extender and it didn't help, so I want to see if there is a way to connect it directly to the router with some type of cable/adapter combo.
I don't really want to buy another device (Roku 3)

You don't need to record stuff on a DVR. It's on the interwebz Broham.

Maybe clear your cache if that's possible? I have a Fire TV, so don't know much about ROKU

Anyway, me and my friend both got the Fire TV and I want to know what I should download. I've never done this Kodi thing so any help is appreciated

SO getting Kodi straight from the Fire TV is the same as the link Thacian posted but without needing to use a computer, etc?

So once I get Kodi, what's the next thing I should get? I see people talking about Jarvis and FireStarter, etc but some aren't working the same or not being updated.

Sounds like I should get Exodus, but do I need something first to get that after I dl Kodi?

I'll update that stuff later.. you can't use Firestarter anymore. Firestarter isn't necessary anymore, though.

You need to download/install the fusion repo into KODI, then download certain add-ons from fusion.

Ok, the link Thacian posted to install Kodi at the bottom has a step by step to do Fusion so I guess that needs to be done. Should I just get Kodi directly from the Fire TV then or is any different than the one dl from a computer?

Yes, please update with what I need to do after getting Kodi and Fusion. Do I get Exodus or people staying away from builds and just adding their own add-on's? I just want whatever easiest is to do especially since my buddy won't get this shite at all so I will do his Kodi but I'm not gonna want to keep telling him how to update, download, etc
