Meh, I kind of agree and disagree with Cam.

I play a pickup game of b-ball. If I'm on the losing team I'm pissed, even if it's my fault which it usually is. I hate to lose more than I like to win.

But I'm just playing my little pick-up game of basketball. He's on a much larger stage. With that comes some different responsibilities. It's not just about him, it's about leading your team and them taking on your identity. I like all of his celebration and showmanship, but when you do all of that you have to be equally prepared to take on the heat when it inevitably comes back to bite you. You can't carry on the way he does and then just sulk like a little kid when things don't go your way.

I get how he feels, just don't think he can show it given that he's the leader of an organization now. If you're cocky in triumph, be cocky in defeat as well, say you'll be back and nothing's going to keep you down.

so he hates losing just not enough to risk injury to avoid losing in the most important game of the year and possibly his career? That seems odd.

I'm not a Panthers fan, but I like Cam. I'm okay with that. The odds of recovering that fumble were about the same as me from my couch.

So what's your reasoning for him avoiding it.

I can't say, I don't know what went through his head in that millisecond. Maybe he thought it was gonna squirt out or saw another Panther about to dive in I don't know but I know it's not because he was afraid or didn't care enough because he, more than any NFL QB ever, has proven he's not afraid of taking a hit for a his team.

There's a lot of Carolina fans openly saying he was hit a lot and thought twice about it.

People are emotional, they are upset they lost, people say a lot of dumb things when they are emotional.

Peyton doesn't search for cameras and strike poses when things are going his way, and then run away from them when they don't.

I think this is a big part of it for me. I don't care you get super pissed at losing. But when you talk a lot of crap, or show boat you definitely leave yourself open to this kind of shite storm. Richard Sherman for all the crap he talks, went straight up to Brady and gave him congratulations right after the game.

They put one drive together in the first 57 minutes of the game. If you thought they were going to get it going in the last 3 minutes with their No. 2 receiver out with a concussion, go ahead and be foolish.

Why would the Panthers concede the game at that point? That's a stupid way to look at it. Denver played a playoff game against Pittsburgh awhile back. Their offense sucked the entire game. Then Tebow threw a miracle touchdown and they won. I'd like to think that the Panthers are a bigger threat on offense than that terrible Broncos team.

Can you show your work, please, for this math equation?

It sounds like people would have preferred Cam jumped into the scrum and his leg broke in half Lattimore style just to prove to them he "really" wanted to win?

No, then they'd rip him for being foolish in a game they couldn't win. Dude can't win

That's what it boils down to. You guys are watching slow motion replays and still shots rather than viewing this as a split second decision that could alter his entire career.

And Cam went straight to Manning.

How many people have gotten hurt falling on a fumble in the last decade? Trying to recover a fumble isn't an automatic injury.

The Panthers weren't conceding the game. But Cam wasn't going to recover that fumble, even if he dove in on the pile. By the time he would have jumped in, it was going the other way where Ward recovered it.

I wish you could be logical in this discussion.

We prefer Cam risk injury and jump on the ball...what happens happens after that. It's the friggin Super Bowl man. It's ok if you say something negative about Cam, he's not going to read it. Plus he doesn't care what you think about him.

Fair enough. It wasn't exactly Cam's best moment, but let's not pretend every player in the NFL doesn't have those split-second decisions.

Look at Manning. Dude was rushing throws acting like he was scared of getting hit. Why? Because he wants to enjoy life after 40.

Sure Cam will always have haters. But not giving effort is 10x worse than not being able to win the big game.

Peyton Manning is famous for just falling down and giving up sacks before anyone lays a hand on him. He doesn't get ripped for it. But because Cam didn't dive head first into a scrum for a fumble, he's a punk?
