re: Tony Dungy HOF?

Any coach that builds two Super Bowl winning teams should be a HOF lock. That applies to Mike Shanahan as well. Flores and Seifert aren't in because they clearly weren't the driving forces on their teams. Al Davis was the primary reason for the Raiders success while Seifert inherited an empire from Bill Walsh and had Eddie DeBartolo as his owner.

Dungy deserves to be in the Hall of Fame
Just because other coaches have been slighted on getting in doesn't make Dungy undeserving

I was listening to Bill Polian who I really don't like, talk about why Dungy should be in the HOF and after hearing all of his points I am in total agreement that he deserves to be in.

Why isn't Dick Vermeil in? If it's about taking two teams to success?
And to say Dungy was the driving force at Indy is sort of laughable given all those years having the best QB in the game and game-planner on the field.
He built the Bucs - but his M.O. was he couldn't get over the top. Next year he leaves, they are over the top.
Vermeil built the Eagles and his M.O.was he couldn't get over the top despite going to the Super Bowl.
And then Vermeil rebuilt the Rams and won a Super Bowl.
Dungy didn't even get to one Super Bowl the first time around with the Bucs.

Long ago, the HOF became the Hall of the Very Good.
Membership should only be for the Truly Great.

Why is that? Because he is black? Does Dick Vermeil not deserve it?

I don't understand why Dungy is in the HOF before Holmgren. Both retired in the same year but Holmgren has the stronger resume. He coached in three Super Bowls while Dungy coached in just one. Holmgren has 12 playoff appearances while Dungy has coached 11 playoff teams. Holmgren also has four more playoff wins than Dungy as well as a higher playoff winning percentage.
Holmgren's resume >>> Dungy's resume

If he was white he wouldn't be in. It's sad how PC the NFL has gotten.

Modern day coaches in the HOF - who coached after 1980.
Bill Walsh
Bill Parcells
Chuck Knoll
Joe Gibbs
Tom Landry
Marv Levy
Don Shula
Tony Dungy...
Who has less wins, worse playoff % than Bill Cowher, Andy Reid, Mike Holmgreen, Shannahan, etc.
Bud Grant and Tony Dungy are the only HOF coaches to be in the Hall of Fame with losing playoff records...and Grant went to 4 Super Bowls.
Tony Dungy is the first coach in the modern era (who still coached after 1980) to be enshrined with a losing playoff record and 1 SB appearance.

That pretty much sums it up right there. Not saying he doesn't belong in the HOF but for him to get it before Cowher, Holmgreen and Johnson is absurd.

I agree, no way. Jimmy was a MUCH better coach, not even close.

Let's be real honest. If you were an owner or GM and these 3 guys plus Dungy were available, all in their prime, who would you hire?
