Tired of bashing JJ threads...

Been reading threads all season about Johnny cant coach, can only recruit, no X and O's, lack of timeout usage, yada yada...
As for our early season struggles, young team without all its pieces trying to gel, is how I see it. Should we have won a fee more games, yes, but it is what it is.
As for the Oklahoma game, I attended, Johnny coached a good game period... Hield just hit shots, Ben didn't want the ball when he got it and he had plenty of opportunities in the 2nd half to contribute. For all his talents, he is young and we have to remember that he is just becoming accustomed to big time basketball. Australian basketball is a far cry from the pressures of being the afterthought #1 NBA prospect, trying win a game against the #1 team in the nation, all the while on national t.v. against your main competition for Player of the Year accolades.
Yes we should have won, yes,Ben should have done more,in the 2nd half and should of taken the last shot but he didn't.
Johnny did a good job of substitutions, called quality plays to get players good shots, got on the refs for bogus calls, which he's started to do as of late, and called key timeouts when he needed to...
Anybody in the country, but Hield, in that game yesterday and we would have won. Hield just had a Player of the Year game which he is supposed to have to win the award. Can't blame Johnny for putting his two best perimeter players on him and still end up with 32 points. Dude is having an all time year and we just are a part of it.
Now, maybe Victor should have gotten more looks in the 2nd half because he was a considerable factor in the 1st half but I give Johnny a pass because those touches went to Ben, who was too passive as definitively known. That's my only qualm with the strategy in the whole game and maybe Ben getting the last look and shot of the game, but in split second situations, you could always 2nd guess a decision, especially with less than 4 seconds left.
Johnny has his shortcomings, but the Oklahoma game and loss wasn't due to him. Ben was too passive and Hield shot lights out as he's done all year. At some point, we have to hold players accountable and say it's on them.
Johnny coached a good game, we fell short. However, we can take solace in the fact that if we play with the same energy for the rest of the year, not only will we make the tournament, but we will DEFINITELY be a threat to go far.
Stop bashing Johnny, support the team through good wins and losses, and hope that every game the players learn a little more about themselves to give a good effort in the postseason.

A lot of these people don't like him and didn't like the cheap hire. That's why you get these threads. They've been upset since the start.

Gonna need you to point out specific plays. I must have missed them.

The funny thing is when the team wins it is never the coach, it is always some players appreciation thread.

Relax man. Irrationality is what the Rant does best.

This post and thread that goes along with it is right on point.... I support Coach Jones! Glad he's coaching our tigers!

The only time JJ calls plays is after a team timeout. Please enlighten me on what plays he called.

Simmons plays like a bitch compared to his hype, talent/skill and CJJ is not good enough to coach serious SEC/Natty contender. Let's agree and move on.

You are absolutely right! And the same goes for every other coach we have ever had. Every body knows more about coaching than the coaches. But that is too much rationale for this bunch. Duck and cover! Me too!

Then don't log on to ESPN or any other credible national media analyst because the criticism is not contained to this board. He is a career .500 coach in the Sun Belt that got hired at LSU because he played at LSU, not because he was the best candidate for the job.
He has managed to reopen the recruiting pipelines that were here when Dale was coaching, however, he has done very little with the talent he has had. At the end of the day, he's slightly over his head at LSU and everyone in the country got to see it on Saturday.

It is the "low-hanging fruit" mentality of many people who post on internet message boards. The easiest thing to do, without putting much thought or effort into it, is to just automatically bash the coach. They see others do it, so they jump on the bandwagon. They used words such as "unacceptable" and "inexcusable", yet don't take any action to get anything done.

Sweet, so if LSU misses the NCAA tournament with the #1 NBA draft pick we'll just shrug our shoulders and say "it is what it is", no biggie.
The "young team trying to gel" is not a good argument considering the below average teams that we lost to OOC.

Getting Ben Simmons has been JJ's worst nightmare. He has brought undue expectations that JJ can't meet. We're 20 games in and we can't execute with both TQ and BS on floor at same time. TQ has become a coach killer. He's holding BS back because he can't play without the ball. We all now know that BS needs to have the ball in his hands every possession. TQ in the game doesn't allow that to happen. It's JJ's fault for not designing an offense that uses both of their skill sets in harmony. Simple as that

He isn't a good x's and o's coach.
He got destroyed on national TV by Vitale and deservedly so.

Dude, face it he wasn't a good qb

It is year 4 under jones. The team is making the same mistakes as his first team.
He is not a good coach when it comes to putting his players in a position to succeed.

When the best player in the country doesn't touch the ball or the play doesn't go through him on the last 4-5 possessions, it indeed falls on the coaching.

Thought you were speaking of Jordan Jefferson.
basketball threads, since their degree of importance is extremely low, should be titled with BASKETBALL, typed out 5 types in the title thread so people wont waste their time clicking on them.

I for one think that was the best game LSU has played all year. Unfortunately for them it was against the best team in the country. This team shite the bed early in the year and now they're paying for it. If they had beaten Marquette, NC state and Charleston they'd be 16-5 right now and pretty close to a lock for the tournament.
Because of this he's under the microscope....he made his own bed.
