Yea Ouachita made Slocum look like a big dumb whitey, which he was.

Dean is the best leaper I've ever seen in sports... and that's saying a lot. If LSU hadn't been on probation would he have given us a look?

Yeah I remember that, not sure if that was in the Don Redden or the District championship game?
Wojeck definitely got us some weird looks haha, it took him a while to get accustomed to his "surroundings" at a lot of gyms

Bakari Beckwith was a great story, worked his arse off and got a scholly to LA College. He's the HC at Ruston and is also a successful minister

Winnsboro used to have a guy named Kemo on the 93 teams that deserves his own 30 for 30. Outside of Dean, he is the second best leaper I ever saw. I think he had about 5 kids by his graduation though, ha.

Off topic but Antaun Jamison, Bryce Drew, Bill Russell and Clyde the Glide were born in Louisiana as well

Bryce Drew was only born in Louisiana because Homer Drew spent a year in Baton Rouge on Dale Brown's first staff.

So he was born in Louisiana because his parents lived and worked here? Thanks for clearing that up, bro, knowledge is power after all.

Saw Kemo jump over 4 people at the Catfish Festival and throw a tomahawk down. That guy...man, what a talent that didn't do much with it. Winnsboro rode he and a few others to the 92 state title with a white point guard that played D1 baseball. Good teams.

His dad was in Louisiana for one year of his entire life. It just so happened to be year that Bryce was born. After that one year, they were back in Indiana. Trying to say that Bryce Drew being born in Baton Rouge should somehow count in regards to talent coming from the state is like saying that John McCain counts as being from Panama.

I hear you, dude, I was just messing with you. He'll always just be the honky that shot Ole Miss put of the tourney to me.

When was Salmen ever a part of that district. I went to Ponchatoula in the early 2000's and Salmen was not in our district. Hammond and Slidell were.

Slocum was pretty decent for his size, but overall he was a bitch

As far Dean's recruitment I can tell you this. John Brady worked his arse off recruiting Brandon, seemed like he was always around. He already had a good connection with Ouachita when he recruited Will Daniel from there in '95 to play for him at Samford.
He committed to Rick Barnes at Clemson pretty early on, not sure if he decomitted due to Barnes name being linked to Texas job or not? Steve Robinson at FSU also put a lot of work in but not sure if they were ever really in it. Kansas gave him a quick whiff, but Iowa St really had his attention as well. Nevertheless, Arky came on strong in the end and got him. He had some great moments there for sure

I'm going to date myself, but I played in an AAU tournament in Morgan City against Kerry Kittles, Randy Livingston, and Scotty Thurman in 1991. I would love to say I held Kittles in check as I was assigned to guard him, but that would be a total lie. From the moment of the opening tip when Livingston threw Kittles an alley oop and I was kicked in the chest, I knew I was going to get crushed. We lost a squeaker that night.

I think I was at a game where nearly every coach you mentioned was there.
