I haven't seen much talk about him and I didn't know anything about him, but going to look at his highlight film...wow. The kid looks impressive. What I don't know is the level of competition he is playing against. His film is impressive though. He still looks like he has a baby face in some of his pictures, but he doesn't play like that.

Apparently he is in MSU's backyard and is all MSU...but I still don't understand the relatively low national ranking. Obviously, that's why I don't scout and project for a living.

He's one of your typical MS recruits who will stay in MS, crazy how well they keep their state locked down.

They have had two 4 or 5 star composite players sign with schools outside of MS the last 4 classes (2012-2015), both were to LSU.

Lashley had pretty good competition from an overall team perspective. I was shocked to see them beat Louisville as bad as they did. They should have been able to beat Starkville this season since Starkville was supposed to be having a down year... Oxford, my understanding was THE team this year and nobody was stopping them.

I know overall that's a good team, but I also know historically -- having talked with collegiate offensive linemen from West Point that went to MSU for instance: The kids didn't know fundamental techniques. I'm not sure if coaching styles have changed, but I am sure that this kid has a huge physical presence and is able to maul opposing defensive linemen.

Lashley is considered an MSU lean because he's from their backyard and his uncle played for MSU. Johnnie Cooks.
