New update.. again not my post but sharing:
Ok, we were informed today by the group Atchafalaya Basin Keepers that they are trying to stop an energy company that owns a lot of the wax from gating off a huge chunk of it. At Shell Island Pass, near Julien Bayou, including what some call hog bayou... this company filed for a permit to gate off a huge area there.... in Oct. The Basin Keepers submitted a reply, so the permit process stopped while the Corp received a rebuttal from the company. Now, since the company has claimed that few if any recreational anglers or commercial fishermen even use this area.... the Corp has asked the Basin group how many fishermen use this area. We have two weeks to respond. If you have ever fished in the Wax... go to facebook and get on the Louisiana Sportsmen Coalition page. Look for the post on the Wax, Sean even has a map of the subject area. Please post comments under that post..This is happening quick now, and it is a very large area they are wanting to start gating off.

How in the hell does Miami think they can gate hog bayou? Probably all the flatbills in gator tails pissed them off. Son of a bitch that would suck. But I agree, few fishermen use the area, that's the beauty. But now that we are going to raise hell about it, I guess more will.

It's pretty messed up if they go ahead and damn that water way off. It's a natural bayou that's claimed by both the state and land owner. That's one of the main ways people use to get to the atachafalya delta.
