Restaurant Week- Baton Rouge

Has anyone gone to one of the restaurants who are a part of this thing this week?
What's the draw? I skimmed the dig website for details and it seems like the "deals" are just 3-course half-arse meals ranging from $15 on the low-quality end to $30 on the high end.
Is the point being able to have a 3-course meal for a cheaper price than if you bought all the seperate items on a normal week? I really don't care at all for desert and if I'm getting an appetizer (or a main course for that matter) I'm not a big fan of being given a limited selection off a menu, so the package deal aspect turns me off.
I'm not dogging it yet, but I'm not sure what to think about the options. Maybe I can get some suggestions from yall? Admitedly the website I was looking at is not very compatible with my browser/work computer, so I did not get a totally clear picture of the offerings.

A couple of the restaurants seem to have a good deal set up, but I'm like you in the sense that I do not like dessert at all.. and their entree options aren't as good as the actual menu.
For example, Bin 77. I like this spot and go as often as I can. Their RW options are a beef tenderloin, a pork tenderloin, and a salmon entree. But my favorite entrees there are the short ribs.. the duck.. the lamb.. and the prime rib. They only have 2 "first course" options on the RW menu and they suck.. whereas their small plate menu is really awesome.
We've actually gone to restaurants for RW in the past, intending to order off of the RW menu, but ended up ordering one app to split and each the entree we actually want off the menu.. and it ends up cheaper.
The Doe's one seems like a good menu though. So I guess it just depends on restaurant.

This is what I'm thinking. If I got a middle-of-the road restaurant and get whatever I want I'm spending 20 dollars anyway, so it doesn't make sense to me that I'd pay that same $20 for very limited options and no drink or gratuity included. I mean most of the appetizers are stuff like lentil soup or garden salad, while the deserts seem to be uniformly bread pudding or vanilla ice cream. Not impressed.

For non dessert people like us, it's not really worth it. It would be good for me if it were soup/salad, app, and entree.

Yeah majority of these are not worth it, few of the places have some good specials but otherwise you'd be better off ordering off the menu

If you're wanting to try one out, do Ninos. They do soup/salad, app, and then entree. No dessert.
Again, though, you'll spend about the same at Ninos regardless.

Yeah, theirs is a great value too.

Once again Beausoleil dissapointed. App(wings) and desert(bread pudding) was good but the entree(sirloin) left me dissapointed. Not only did it come out cold, but it was practically alive. I like my steaks rare, but this thing was barely cooked.

It really depends on the restaurant you choose. I always go online to look at the options before I choose where to eat. Galatoire's was money in a great deal. Zeas was a really good value for 25 bucks

If you don't usually get apps and/or dessert, then restaurant week isn't really for you. But the idea draws you in, and you end up doing what the poster above said.
My wife and I have gone to a place or two each time RW comes up, and I swear we may have only ordered off the RW menu once.

A week with a special name, featuring "deals" that aren't really deals.
