Will Frank Wilson take a pay cut in order to be the coach at UTSA?

It just doesn't seem like UTSA can pay him more than he was making here. I may be totally wrong or it may not not be about the money to him.

He has to get head coaching experience somewhere in order to land a gig at a Power 5 school one day.

He's going to make around $750,000.

It's called a "career move"; a resume builder as he climbs the coaching ladder,

Got to start somewhere. He doesn't want to be a running backs coach his whole career.

And that is with no state taxes plus cheaper real estate in general.

I realize it's a career move. I was just curious if the move would involve a pay cut.

Why on Earth didn't he just take the Tulane job??? He is from New Orleans and has so many connections there....Also, UTSA's Fball program has only existed for 4 years so honestly I feel Tulane is a better program. LSU can easily pay him more than both UTSA and Tulane. There is no way he can build a team of assistants under him that he would want.

Heck, LSU can pay every assistant coach 5 mil, doesn't mean they are worth it.

He's been mentioned a lot last few years. I suspect the may be the first truly offered him. Good for him . Bring in Faulk and give Raymond the rec. coord job.

I'm not sure Tulane is a better program than any program in America. Yes, I realize Louisiana is a hotbed of talent, it's located in New Orleans, and now they have their own outdoor stadium, but that program seems to have zero energy.

4 bowl games in the last 35 years.

I'd steer clear of the Tulane job.

What's going to happen with his $300,000+ buyout?

I think it's not a bad move for him to get to the next level. But, from someone who has lived many years in TX and LA, it is probably a wash, COLA-wise. No state tax, but property values around UTSA aren't going to be cheaper and the property taxes are absolutely brutal compared to LA.

Agreed. It evens out. Real estate isn't cheaper in San Antonio than BR, generally speaking.

That is probably a lateral move buyout for another position coach

There was probably waivers for getting a head job. We would have to be complete dirtbags to fault a man did trying to better himself by taking a better job

They're actually pretty fun, for a new team they've got a great fan base. Lots of support, and fans with energy. There's a lot of potential there.
