My wife and I have seriously considered driving up to Nashville from BR on random weekends just to get some. It's fricking life changing.

My fellow breakfast diners in Wayne Salem's were all jabbering this morning about about the pending BHM opening of said eatery.

I honestly don't get the hot chicken craze in Nashville. I lovy spicy food but damn that's all I tasted. Granted I only had it at one place.

That's how I feel about Gus's. I'm do thankful that they come to New Orleans once a year for the Roadfood Festival so that I can get my fix. I have heard great things about Hattie B's and Prince's.

Hattie B's wasn't really spicy at all, just really good.

No way it is 9 hours of driving better than the chicken shack

I live in Nashville. Hot chicken is big here but I don't see the attraction. It's just hot for the sake of being hot. Not like Louisiana food which is spicy but with subtle added layering of flavors. Would drive 9 hours for crawfish, shrimp, crabs not for chicken. Just me though.

Isn't it "Nashville" hot chicken? Like, the chicken is indigenous to Nashville and not the entire state of Tennessee? I know Birmingham is just down the road, but I hate this just as I hate Cajun food anywhere outside the state of Louisiana.
ETA: Pass on Hattie B's. I feel like it's designed as a tourist attraction. Their chicken is good, but Prince's is far better.

I'm not a fan of super hot chicken, so I actually like Hattie B's more than say Bolton's or Prince's. Seems the medium and hot at Hattie B's actually has more flavors going on than just scorching hot. Some of those things from hot chicken places are just stupid hot and not any fun.

Excited about this coming to Bham. Just another addition to the growing food scene here.
