Chavis, Steele, Aranda

Last year Chavis' departure resulted in a long wait before finding a replacement (Steele) who received a lukewarm reception.
This year Steele's departure resulted in an almost immediate replacement (Aranda) who has received a very positive reception so far.
Any insights?

Aranda was the top choice last year, but Alleva wouldn't budge on the 2 years with Les Miles clause.
Aranda's contract this year is better.

This. CLM got an agreeable contract ready and picked up the phone. It was who they wanted last year but he turned it down due the "Miles Clause"
On another note, I see some people who believe that Steele was let go. I would say that is not true since LSU wants $500K for breaking his contract early...

Yeah but didn't they split the buyout amount with Auburn, and also they never matched his contract. Total BS. I think Steele saw the writing on the wall and an opportunity came up and he took it. Worked out best for all parties involved
Also to those who think this was all done in 2 days, keep dreaming

Steele is splitting the buyout with Auburn. LSU gets the full $500K

Seems that Steele leaving didn't catch the staff off guard like the Chavis situation last year.

Steele seems to be a better man than Chaves by being up front with Les and the AD. Steele did what he thought was best for him and what was best for LSU. Auburn is getting a quality human being or a least a better man than both The Chief and Boom.

Steele felt Miles job was still in jeopardy if he lost the bowl game. The Miles Clause was another factor and Steele is tight with Chavis. Safer ground at Auburn plus Steele is vested in the retirement system etc.. Even though Auburbs private he wanted to get back home and 1.4 mill is nice raise

I keep seeing this posted with nothing to back it up. Guess I'll chalk it up to more speculation and irrational alleva hate.

I would guess the entire staff at the very least had their agents putting out feelers once shite hit the fan in November. Steele was lucky enough to get a bite. Given Les' instability and the so so defensive product he put on the field taking an offer from another top tier SEC school was a no brainier for Steele.
Worked out best for everyone.

Most things people post on this board is some form of speculation but unless you work in that organization and have some type of dealing with the negotiations, you would never know the truth unless you're involved with the decision making. I for one believe there's some truth to the story but the only two people who know the 100% truth is the AD and Les.

yea and it drives me nuts! some posters are reasonable and id their thoughts as theory's. but there is a segment that hatch an idea, one that supports their overall mental picture of miles, lsu adm, etc and then the other sheep echo it, reinforce it and then it becomes "reality" and they have ZERO basis in fact.
and then it gets quoted as fact forever. many of this board are like middle school girls with there drama and complete disdain for facts or reality.

Alleva's job is to run the LSU Athletic Department. Go check out the most profitable athletic departments and lemme know how he's doing.

Hopefully they figured out that we need a great defense to have any chance at winning any kind of championship? Novel concept, I know. Lord knows our offense won't win one.

Vandy is the only private university in the SEC. Auburn is a public, multipurpose, land-grant university. It was founded as a private, liberal arts institution in 1856, came under state control in 1872, and began admitting women in 1892. Its 1,875-acre campus is located in Auburn.
