2015- A Year of Workouts

The past few years I've been working out hard and getting into shape, so last year this time I made it a New Year's resolution to set firm exercise goals and then track every workout. It was a great experience and I thought I'd share the final tally.
Total workouts: 502 (Yes, this is more than one workout a day. There was a lot of running with cramps, stomach flu and diarrhea, lifting weights through strains and sprains and getting up at 4 am to sneak a workout in before an early flight.)
Running: 158 sessions, totaling 1,224.03 miles for an average of 7.75 miles per run. I've always been a cardio first person but this year really tested that. I battled hamstring issues all year and developed a real love/hate relationship with MapMyRun.
Hikes: 134 sessions, totaling 482.4 miles for an average of 3.6 miles per hike. I'm fortunate enough to live in the Northwest where hiking trails abound. I pretty much hiked daily from March-November, scampering through mountains, valleys, streams and various trails in Washington, Idaho and western Montana.
Racquetball: 73 sessions at an hour for each session. I love racquetball and this gave me the opportunity to actually compete against others, as opposed to all my other workouts, which were solitary. Yeah, I know it's not the most manly sport but it does get you sweating and it's hard to get a 5-on-5 basketball game at 6am.
Biking: 27 bike rides, averaging about 13 miles a ride. I bought a bike late in the season (around September) to take some of the pounding off my knees and it was great alternative. I'm looking forward to biking a lot more in 2016.
Weightlifting: 110 sessions. I tried to balance the cardio with tons of bench press, curls, shoulder routines, etc. No one likes a guy with an Ethiopian marathon runner's body, after all.
All in all, it was a fun but super challenging experience. It's hard to average more than one workout a day for an entire year. Having a wife and four kids, a high intensity job and various illnesses, travel, (aka, the real world) made it difficult at times. But I'm in the best shape of my life at 40 years old and I'm ready to do it all again this coming year.

Too much cardio, not enough lifting..

Not enough Wendler either.

Keeping track of all of that is more impressive than actually doing it.

You got a good body? Do you get more women if your body looks good?

Well what was your results? Weight loss, gain, body fat loss?

I did 364 workouts
All 12 or 16 oz curls usually around 2-3 hours per session with some going much longer on Saturdays

Where are the squats? and where is the gymnastics training?
and why would you run so much? were you being chased by a dog or something? WHy not do sprints or prowler pushes?
seriously if you really want to be in the best shape of your life, look into doing the basic wendler template combined with the gymnastics body program. Start with the foundations 1 program and work up. DO the Gymnastic training as your accessory training on the 4 lifting days. On the other days do prowler sprints or some other form of heavy carries.
Do that and you will be in the real best shape of your life. Honestly all of the long distance running is just putting wear and tear on your body for very little benefit in return. The Racquetball is great and fun, same with the hikes. Biking.....well you would be much better off just getting an airdyne bike or a rower and doing a double Tabata. Would save you time too.
Really impressed you kept a log of all this though.

If you weren't overtraining, maybe you wouldn't have had so many illnesses and injuries. Without rest, there are no #Gainz.

HIT Cardio and lifting heavy shite are the best things you can do vs performing long jogs and light weight training.
