Patent Attorney

Anyone have a patent attorney they would recommend? Or any experiences getting patents executed?
I have a neat idea for an ice chest accessory/component that I believe is patent-able. The ideal situation would be licensing the technology to one of the current big manufacturers.
I have a prototype and proof of concept, what more is needed to file?
Ball park cost for filing?
Lead time from submission to patent execution?
TIA

I thought you were talking about executing a patient at first glance

Best of luck. You might want to call the patent office for answers before an attorney. I have no clue how it works, but I gotta assume an attorney will want a cut. Maybe a future cut too.

Shark Tank is my favorite show, all you hear about are horror stories about how much $ patent attorneys costs. I guess it depends on what you are trying to patent but you can expect a big time bill from an attorney.

I don't know how enforceable this is, but someone once told me about a "poor man's patent"
Basically, you write a letter to yourself, which includes all the details of your product. You then send it to yourself certified mail. This established a record of when it was mailed - i.e. a date.
if your idea is really radical, I'd imagine you could quietly work on it and sell a few to raise the money needed for a patent application and to hire legal help if needed.

Ahh. Thanks for letting me know.

You can do some free searching on the internet before contacting an attorney to save some cash.

You might not want to post your number on here...

Thanks BioBobcat, I was going to take it down as soon as I got a call but never got one.

Not to discourage you at all,
but was talking to a friend of mine about an idea that he could've patented many years ago. The concept is widely used now.
He said it "was just cost prohibitive, and that a patent is only as good the money you have to defend it."
That might be something you want to discuss with your attorney on the front end, rather than finding out a few years from now...
Best of luck with your product!
