Dude, it's December. Stop worrying about the RPI
Split UK in Florida and have a nice run through the SEC without any awful losses and we will make the tourney. Our RPI halfway through the SEC schedule last year was awful and we still made the tourney

Hard to really say we have improved considering who we beat.
Fair enough.
Personally, I think we looked like a completely different team with Victor/Hornsby in the game. Intensity on defense has been strong. Spacing offensively looks improved as well. Rebounding has looked very much improved. You can see players boxing out and attacking the ball. Players getting to the ground for balls.
Those are the things that has me convinced this team has improved. Not the 20+ wins over inferior teams. It's the way they've played.

This
I know the competition has been shite, but anyone with eyes can see this team is way better with these two.

They still haven't improved vs a 2-3 zone.
Posted on 12/21/15 at 2:21 pm to GeismarGeauxer
yeah, at season's end is when it has substance
and in regards to the Tigers, it'll all depend on whether the three's are falling.
Ben will get his, once opponents start sagging we will have our marksmen open. and they'll take it cause that's what they do
my only hope is that learn the benefit of the extra pass
despite it still resulting in a three point shot, reversing the ball via quick passing gets a team into groove resulting in higher percentages and more importantly making the defense work and tiring them out
we will have some monumental upsets and some mind-blowing losses. I say we go 22-9
coach should demand blankeney to make a basket before launching a 3
my hope is that Epps comes on strong enough to warrant him starting, hence;
quarterman
hornsby
simmons
epps
victor
i think this is our best line-up. It puts Simmons at a position where we aren't giving up as much with him taking the ball down....problem is it doesn't give us depth at the 4 and 5; hence, i'd like us to start games with it, yet use it sparingly.
first substitution, the press is on- i'd bring in
quarterman
blankeney
sampson
simmons
epps

I'm not happy with the way we've played and think our margin for error is now pretty slim, but I wouldn't worry about the RPI now. Far too early. It's like ridiculous early season football polls. Way too much ball to be played to worry about it now.

How much of that changed play would you attribute to Bridgewater not being available to fill in 10+ minutes at center? 7 footers will never be as graceful as the guards, but LSU greatly under-utilizes them. I love the progress that Robinson has made this year and I am so disappointed to see them out of the game when Bridgewater comes in. If anything, Malone and Bridgewater should make a nice backup combination.

Rpi is completely meaningless at this point of the year. You have it filtered wrong anyway. If you go by the way you have it:
Gardner Webb is #9.
Oral Roberts is #54.
Kentucky is #69.
Duke is #80

I am most concerned about putting up a few quality road or neutral-site wins. We blew a few opportunities early.

I didn't filter it at all...I just pulled up basketball RPI.

RPI ESPN is 138. SOS is worse.

Work is killing me right now so I can't be on here much.
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but I think the combination of Victor and Simmons is deadly on offense and is improving on the boards and defensively. Victor likes to hedge screens on the perimeter, which LSU desperately needed. We were getting driven into the paint off screens far too frequently.
Rebounding has been a total team effort. Really been nice to see Elbert getting to the offensive boards like he is. Not to mention him getting on the floor to go after balls. Really just a much higher intensity, which can be attributed to either coaching or the presence of Hornsby/Victor. It's nice to have some vets out there now.
When looking at this season you have to recognize LSU was without 40% of their starting lineup for an extended period of time.

Even if we had won some of those games, it wouldn't be impressive. This team is coming together and will start climbing out of the hole over the next couple of weeks.

Florida is above Mich State and Incarnate Word is 32 sitting at 1-4.

No need to lie about it. Now at least go change the title to be accurate.

Only relevant ranking to look at right now is KenPom. We are around 85 right now which obviously isn't good but a better quantitative review of performance than RPI.

With an RPI like that, sucks for whoever has to play LSU. LSU can play a spoiler role just by showing up.

I love me some KenPom, but any computer ranking still isn't fully relevant at this point in the season.

Not good. Gotta knock off some top 50 teams sec will not provide many opportunities for that to occur no ncaa and if Jj not fired then Aleva should be fired!! Can't play teams close and lose to expect ncaa invite
