Even if a new FO is brought in, all that gets you is no ties to current players, it doesn't ease expectations to win now. If you draft a big you've got at least a year before he's useful. If you draft a skinny euro scorer like Korkmaz it may be 2-3 years. You may be able to get more value out of a trade. Like if Milwaukee decides their core is young enough to reset after a disappointing season, maybe you can get Middleton for the 7-10 pick. If something like that is on the table it'd be pretty hard to draft a project.

I think if a new FO is brought in they have the freedom to build a contender ground up including a couple of losing seasons if need be as opposed to a win now mandate. Since AD is locked up there is no need to win now to ensure we keep him. We need to be thinking about keeping him after this contract and that is by having a true contender. We need to use and develop draft picks for that and fans can be sold with hope.
I would be shocked if ownership lets Dell or new GM trade a top 7 pick this year considering our previous history. Not to mention rookie scale contracts are awesome deals that allow you to operate cheaper in the future. I think ownership is sick of trading draft picks for pieces other teams don't want.
