why are fans down on the texas bowl , i know the opponent isn't ideal but as far as the bowl games go the texas bowl is one of the top payouts aside from the playoff games ...

and i know all revenue is shared in the conference but we could be in a much worse bowl game ...

You can't satisfy these super fans ...

You know I'm disappointed at the way the season ended but it's time to move on and support our tigers....

LSU gets $214,000 from this bowl game..

We get twice as much as that for having Bama in the bowl game.

Does not matter as all the money goes to the SEC and sometime next year they will divide it among all the Teams in the SEC. I think last year LSU got like 30 Million+ for their share.

Am I reading that right? $18 million for going to a playoff game then another $22 million for going to the championship?

No the money goes to the conference and then it's divided some kind of way

I think the payout for each bowl game is divided up so that the team actually playing in the bowl gets two shares, while the SEC office and each of the other teams in the conference get a single share. Essentially, the pie is cut into sixteen slices with the participant team getting two. I think that's how it works.

I'm glad the payout we share 15 ways is large! Missouri appreciates their share, I'm sure, since they declined a bowl. How is that not against the conference bylaws?

If the bowl payout is below $1.5 million the school keeps under $1 million and the rest goes to the pool.

If the bowl payout is non New Year's Day 6, the schools keep $1.25 million with the rest going to the pool.

If the school makes the CFP Final they keep $4million with the rest going to the pool.

Thanks, tigerintheno. Since most schools just hope to break even on their bowl, Vandy just rakes in the cash each year without having to worry about it. Nice gig.
