because maybe we couldnt get herman?
You never know. If Houston gets blown out in the Peach Bowl that will slow their momentum and maybe he will be looking to jump ship, if he can get a $5 million deal.

Why risk having a shitty 2016 and sending the program even deeper into the ditch, after opening a new stadium?
a bad season does not kill a program. I really don't get why fans think this. Like say the wheels come off next year and the go 3-9 like Auburn did in 2012. They fire the coach and have time to do more through search/interview process and if they hire the right guy things can turn around quick (see Auburn 2013, LSU 2000, OU 2000, OSU 2002 etc). What sends a program down is not keeping a coach too long, it is the constant turnover if you make a bad hire imo. A&M might be a case study in that. Sherm did recruit a lot of talent, including JFF and Evans.

wut? Just making it to an access bowl is like winning the NC there. He just won the conference, has pretty much everyone coming back and a monster recruiting class (for UH). I realize he won't stay there another 10 years, but losing the Peach Bowl, even badly will not make him leave, come on man. He can afford to wait for the right job, (what ever that is for him) and improve as HC. His stock will not go down next year, much more likely to only go up.
