Have Cox. Not happy thinking about going with Direct tv. Pros and cons?

Had both and prefer Cox. DirectTV seems like a good deal until your bill doubles after 2 years. I always had issues with my DirectTV receiver in my master bedroom and they never figured it out.

Con - dishes are trashy and makes your house look like booty

I think COX is great for local sports stuff, but I have DIRECTV and I love it

Pro- better picture, better sound, better technology, better support, cheaper.
Con- goes out for a moment or two in extreme weather.

We just switched this past August and couldn't be happier. Apparently, from what the installer told me, you need to make sure your signal is at 98% or better before they leave. The guy that did ours adjusted it until it got to 100%. We had a stretch of some really strong storms a few months ago and we didn't get so much as a blip in the picture. The picture, sound and support is vastly superior in every way to Cox.

No you aren't. Get a $20 indoor antennae. You will also have watch ESPN access. Those two sources will cover you for all SEC and NFL games if the signal goes out.

I have Dish, not Direct, but I am so glad I switched. The technology is light years ahead. Its embarrassing that Cox is still trotting out the same shite I had when I first got a DVR. And I am getting the exact same channels for roughly $90 cheaper. So: better technology, significantly better price. It was a no brainer for me and my needs.
ETA: The satellite does look a little bad, but I was able to find a spot that hides it from the street and I never see it.

We have had Cox cable and internet for 20+ years and have had no problems that could not be resolved with a new cable box or modem. Satellite TV on the other hand seems to have ongoing inherent issues.

Such as? The connectivity issues are at worst a minor inconvenience. Like I said, I've had it for about 6 months and only lost picture twice (once during a storm that caused the first football game cancellation since World War I).
I will agree that I had no problems with Cox TV as far as signal, picture, etc. My problem was that I was paying almost double for something with half the features.

Except it doesn't.
