No doubt there were embellishments taking place.
But, it was a get out of Dodge kinda deal. No real bidding war. Our futility vs the top 2, then 3 teams in our division, in succession by double digit margins, along w the obvious lack of offensive coordination and communication, messed up the timing of this move.
Would have happened next year after the inevitable same results on the field. Saban is the X factor, IMO. Sexton is probably the only person that knows where he stands, which benefits Jimbo.
Alleva had the best interests of the program in mind moving on this now, in more ways than one. Has to be a hell of a feeling to raise the kind of support he did, have it ready, willing, and able, knowing the end will justify the means, only to be internally aborted.
Everyone has their smiley faces on and will spin it like they need to, but history will show that it set the program back as much as the Bo Rein plane crash.
