1) they didn't offer the avalanche in 1998 (started in 2002)
2) i also own an 07 avalanche without a cracked dash
i don't doubt that the dashes on some vehicles crack, but it's obvious where your bias is when people act like they all have interior problems. hopefully there are enough people in this thread now to give OP some honest and varied opinions to help him make his choice
