They could have hired Helton any time they wanted. Why now? Pat Haden is the worst AD in the history of collegiate athletics. A total failure in every regard.

Pat Haden doesn't make these decisions. He is a puppet for their boosters. He was instrumental in not blowing the lid on any Pete Carol violations, including the Reggie Bush scandle. He provides options and then gets the ok from the money.
