Once Harris was named as the starter, it instantly meant that 2014 was a wasted year playing Jennings. That was a year of development thrown away and getting nothing in return.

News flash chief. LSUs championship run in 2011 wasn't exactly powered by QB play. In fact, QB play is what prevented LSU from being able to win the NC in 2011.

Recent successful 1st year starters:
McCarron (Won NC) 2011
Winston (won Heisman) 2013
Watson (Clem) 2015
Nick Marshall (won SEC) 2013
Manziel (Heisman) 2012
Will Grier (Lighting it up before suspension)
Kelly (Ole Miss) 2015
Coker (will win SEC) 2015
Sims (SEC Champ) 2014
Both OSU QBs in 2014
Trayvon Boykin (TCU) 2014
I'll stop there...

I think its all about calling the right plays at the right time. All we like to do is throw deep. We rarely ever gove him some easy throws to get in a rhythm before going deep. Last night is the proof. We kept trying to go deep without any rhythm and it was horrendous.
This 100%. I never had a problem with the plays really except the chucking it deep too damn much.. It's the play patterns that are horrible.

I see freshman and sophomore QB's every Saturday making plays and throwing the ball for other teams, often against us. We even have lesser teams with QB's no one has ever heard of put up points and yards on our so called vaunted LSU defense every year .
I'm not buying the inexperience argument. It's a cop out and an excuse machine for the Miles contingent and the man himself to run a no risk offense, this is what he prefers.

To contrast what Rex said in his OP, take a look at first time starting QBs under Saban:
2009: Greg McElroy (National Championship)
2011: AJ McCarron (National Championship)
2014: Blake Sims (SEC Championship)
2015: Jake Coker (11-1 regular season; possible SEC Championship on the way)

2015: Jake Coker (11-1 regular season; possible SEC Championship on the way)

When did I say it wasn't Miles' fault? Not once.
I'm saying the problem is clearly QB development, not some specific scheme that everyone conveniently bashes.

I didn't say shite about working on the passing game earlier in the season. Address my points.

I wish everyone could hear Booger McFarlands take after the game last night.
Essentially he said that in order to perform at any position, half the battle is confidence. As a player, you know when your coaches entrust that confidence in you to perform and thus you perform better. Miles' philosophy on offense is inherently distrustful of the quarterback position from the get go, so they never get a chance to build that confidence to perform.

10 - Junior Lee/Jefferson (not great offensive year, but 11 win season)
11 - Senior Lee/Jefferson
those seasons were built on how awesome our defense was, and were hamstrung by our offense's inability to pass the ball.
do you know remember that>
also a big criticism of miles is that he doesn't consistently recruit QBs, so we don't have a junior ready to step in.

Lee was the most efficient QB in the country in 2011 at one point. Not saying he was the reason for the success, but it's not like he was a corpse out there.

Hown hard is it to understand that it's Mikes job (at 4.3 million a year) to recruit and develop a quarter back!!!!!!!!!

McElroy - Junior in the system for three years
McCarron - RS Soph in the system for three years
Blake Sims - Senior in the system for years
Coker - Senior in the system for two years
Not all first time starters are created equally.

Miles has given Harris plenty of opportunities for the coaches to gain confidence in him and he fails to deliver. His accuracy is terrible and got worse throughout the year. I don't believe that bullshite one bit. To receive confidence and trust you have to start within yourself. Harris is not there yet.

Throwing deep is low risk and easy for a poor quarterback to read. All he has to do is maybe see where a safety is going so he can look for a 1 on 1.
Throwing medium range across the middle requires reading LBs, safeties and the occasional dropped back DL. That requires skill. We don't have that at QB.
That is why we suck at passing.

The offense is transparent and predictable. For years opponents have said they know what's coming.

And Rex's comment about working on the 'short passing game' is spot on also. I love the power run game, but when you throw because you have to and not because you want to, problems they be awaiting.

Brettesaurus: with all due respect. I disagree.
