Just got off the phone with the richest alum in LSU history. Not saying his name but be does post here.
It's crazy to me that people believe 7thWardtiger is just some regular black guy from Jackson working in a rim shop. If they only knew...

this is not just money there are assets tied up in it as well such as real estate and land holdings
Oh, I thought that went to the players.

So said a mega-donor regularly gives in the neighborhood of $10M to LSU, told the AD last year that if he didn't get a new head coach, he wouldn't donate another penny...........and kept his word.
Regarding Alleva: it doesn't much matter what your opinion is of him, the big money players pull the strings.
FACT.

No one single person does the hiring so either you or him are FoS...or both.

Your analogy implies that someone worth $500k won't give $10k over 5 years.
It'd be naive to believe that this is the only time they've given in the past 10 years or in the next 10 years. You don't just nut up for this and then disappear.

LSU doesn't have a single donor of that size. Very few schools do outside of T Boone Pickens, Jerry Jones, the Walton family, etc.

Correct. Someone worth half a million is likely giving more than $2,000 a year out.
In short, this is nothing.

I thought that number was off as well.
But the message is still the same: major donors make things happen behind the scenes, and the public AD function is only a figurehead at times.

To think that the S on the LSU helmet was going to be removed when state funding is less every year but the athletic department does not use a dollar of state funding. Maybe they will replace the S with a $ for the new coach's cap.

I use to donate $150k every 6 months but due to this Les Miles situation I am sending my money to Tulane.

Do you guys realize that booster contributions are reported in financial statements by public institutions, or are you having too much fun fantasizing about shadow athletic departments run by billionaires that stroke ten million dollar handouts?
That kind of shite doesn't fly under the radar.

Not when they are given to a separate foundation.

So you're telling me that LSU shields their donor contributions from public record altogether?
I'm not saying the individual donor could be identified, if he desired to remain unknown, but rather his contributions would be reported along with the rest. If LSU were regularly receiving ten million dollar donations, it would be reported.
Iowa is a top fifteen revenue program, and I think their largest single pledge was like twenty million over many years.

Of course I realize all of this.
I only made my post in response to the recent threads about Alleva: what he's done, what he didn't do, what he needs to do, if he had balls he'd do this, it's a shame the way he's handled this.
There are other major influences at play.
