The same situation happened to a friend of mine, sitting with his 12-yo son. The Deer Of A Lifetime comes out. The dad takes the .243 away from the kid and hammers a 165" buck at 125 yards. Mounts it and hangs it in his office.

To this day, (15 years later) whenever we see the father and son together, I ask the kid if he has recovered from the black eye his father gave him when he elbowed him out of the way.

Or, has he ever gotten that chipped tooth fixed from where your dad yanked the gun out from under your chin?

Too bad you never even saw that big buck, since you were laying on the floor of the stand after your dad knocked you down.

It never ends. It will never end. If he dies before me, I will tell that story at his funeral.

The safe bet is to sit on your hands and let them take the shot.

worked out well for the dad. sometimes children need to know their place in the food chain.
