Yeah, that is pretty much will screw him. A gun is one thing but on the ground with just a knife.

16! I am in shock
The guy is dead regardless if it was 1 shot or 26 shots. Quit thinking about the amount of shots. The question is, was the action to shoot justified or not?

Yep. That was disturbing. I can even maybe understand that if he had a firearm but it was a knife. Seems like the DA made the right call in charging him with murder.
That video was pretty damning.

Number of shots matter. Especially since many were into a guy on the ground. And a knife fight.
16 shots mean you are an evil bastard (shouldn't be a cop) or fricking terrified and reply with a disproportionate amount of force (shouldn't be a cop ).

Have we become such gaping vaginas now that we can stand the sight of a cartoon penis?

again, not every situation is ever the same.. if he was truly posing a threat and trying to harm the officer then that can be a different story. this guy was walking away with only a knife.

It's not uncommon for them to unload. Depends on the department's training. Most are taught to continue firing until the threat is over, seems like it ended pretty quickly there. I've seen lots of videos of cops continuing to shoot when the suspect was down though.
This one wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

So the next course of action is unloading a full clip into someone? Give me a break. If the guy were charging them or pulled out a gun, sure, I could see needing to use deadly force. But at that point, as the video shows, there were other means to subdue the victim. The kill first mentality is prevalent across all races by cops in the U.S..
I understand they have a difficult job to do, but they signed up for it. I guess the question we all should ask is for what reason? It's clear there is a faction of "peace officers" that treat their position as a pedestal, a crown so to speak, where they can unleash their desires to feel big and powerful. It's clear the desire isn't there to preserve life for too many of them, our prisons aren't built to rehabilitate, and our laws aren't set up for the common good or with common sense.

The number of shots really does matter. If you are in dire threat, you shoot till threat is down. Shooting once or shooting too much are both grounds for heavy suspicion. If you shoot once, the threat must not have been very threatening that you truly feared for your life in dire circumstances. I've talked with people who've been in shooting incidents and they say that by the 3rd or 4th shot, any sense of shock and adrenaline will be easing up and you should be back control and the threat should have gone down around by then more or less. He shot the dude 16 times. That is beyond excessive.

Do you think that was a justified shoot?

So we have a 17y/o carrying a knife, NOT HIGH ON DRUGS, walking away from the cops who is shot 16 times and people are defending the cop and calling this justified? Disgusting. The cop should be dropped off in Syria

Sorry if it's been discussed, but I didn't read the entire thread... What exactly is being protested?
The cop was charged with 1st degree murder, correct? So...
