Maybe Les isnt the problem...

There are differing opinions on this topic, but we can all pretty much come to the conclusion that the play calling in Baton Rouge needs to change. When you run the ball on 1st and 2nd down every drive, and then pass on third down every single time, teams catch on to that. It's also pretty obvious when you put in Quinn and Diarse that you are going to run the ball. Out of all of the times that only Quinn and Diarse are in the game this season, they have passed ONCE. Come on now. Mix it up a little. Im sure that if some fans that have never played a down of football in their life can recognize it, what do you think a D1 head coach or defensive coordinator can do? Just my thoughts...

I just think some of our biggest position players aren't that good
Harris is a bottom tier sec QB. Plain and simple

Come on man,you can't be serious. He's pulling the strings, always has.

He's been here 11 years and has gone through multiple coordinators yet we still have the same issues year in and year out.

We get different coaches in there and it's always the same problem, its the head coach plain and simple.

So we don't have good positional players or a good QB, who is responsible for recruiting?

Still saving secret playbook for A&M. Watch out, been sitting on it to save his job, its coming.

Agree 100%. The biggest reason most people want to keep him is because of his recruiting. Now, the players he recruited aren't good. What is going to be the next excuse?

This and only this

This isn't about play calling and way too many people keep making it simply about the QB or poor offense. This program is degrading steadily and people choose to ignore it.
Despite having one of if not the highest paid coaching staffs in the country outside of Les big salary, LSU has consistently looked inept in multiple phases of the game. He's refused to adjust on the offense, made poor hiring choices on the defense, sacrificed skilled coaches for recruiters, and in the end despite the classes' high rankings, left a team with gaping holes and 4* upperclassmen getting beat out by freshmen due to lack of development at numerous positions.
He has a scapegoat every time, but the issues are the same. Confusion, disorganization, lack of discipline. These aren't new things and have spanned multiple hires.
Everyone loves to claim Les is loyal to his players and coaches, yet he needs to be loyal to LSU. When it isn't working out, he needs to cut ties immediately, but instead lets them drag on too long. See Crowton, Studs, Haley, BDP, etc. If they aren't getting the job done, it is time to move on as soon as you can. These are grown men that will find themselves jobs if they deserve them.
Everyone blames gaping holes in our defensive talent and depth on Chavis and Haley, yet ignores the horrid management Les has had with recruiting classes. We'll recruit the hell out of DBs and WRs only to not use the WRs and only a few of the DBs while DL and LBer are left hollow. Les makes the recruiting plan and strategy. Name me another successful SEC coach that has gone entire seasons without a DT or LBer in a recruiting class much less multiple ones?

I didn't see evidence that Les isn't to blame
LSU under Les has always been predictable by personnel and formation regardless of the OC.

He's had 4 or 5 OCs... same offense every time. The only exceptions are with QBs mentored under *other* coaching staffs.
The defense has depth issues, LB is extremely thin next year, special teams is a mess.
Les is the problem. It's been a good run, wish him well, but his time has come and gone.

But LSU is the most talented its ever been today?

LSU has been thrown on first down a lot this season.

Maybe so. It's a shame that Les and his recruiting staff get forced to sign players and don't have any say-so in the matter, huh?

As long as Les is holding a laminated card, you'll continue to see the rugby scrum offense. Miles should've given up the reigns years ago. He didn't- his undoing.

I love Miles, I really do. He's original and unique, but the game has passed him by.

It's not like they didn't offer scholarships at those positions, they just didn't reel them in and for the most part some of the bigger names underperformed.
While it is Les fault, he has limitations on visits and phone calls to recruits. It's up to the assistants to help reel these guys in and coach up their position groups. To me it seems like chavis and haley failed at recruiting their positions. The plan was in place.
They dudnt just ignored a position. Only time they did that was at rb, and LSU isn't hurting there.
Plus they were recruiting defensive players chavis wants for his scheme. Never sacrifice speed for size. That's why teams like bama and Arkansas are able to run on LSU. Chavis puts safeties at linebacker, linebackers at de and de and dt. He likes the tweeners with speed. It works against manziel, but not teams that will run rt up the middle on you.
