I'm having one now. No pain, but visual distortions like looking through jagged broken glass. Usually lasts from a few minutes to a couple of hours.

I get them too. I see "floaters", which is like little rainbows of the color spectrum floating in my vision. It usually happens at work when I stare at the computer for too long

Always precedes a moderate headache and nausea for me. Gotten better in last 10 yrs.

Them "squiggly lines" are really weird. Like small shapes of Kaleidoscope obstruct my vision.

I had terrible ones in high school. First time I had one was baseball practice. Ball is hit high in the air, I look up, and poof! The ball disappeared. Had a killer headache and nausea shortly afterwards.

Every 20 minutes look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Works.

I get them occasionally. If you close your eyes are the images still there? Mine are. Mine look like chandelier crystals that get larger and disappear in 20 minutes. I can set a watch to them. No pain, just get into my line of sight for a while. Ocular migraines are supposedly due to changes in blood flow in the brain, not anything wrong with your eyes.

I get them every so often. Go find a completely dark room or closet and stay in there a few minutes with your eyes open. That usually makes them go away for me.

Migraine with aura is what I get. I thought I was having a stroke. Lost my peripheral vision along with the flashing lights. It just went away after sitting quietly in the dark. Spooky and you never know when it is going to hit.

That was the problem I had. When the first one did that, I had no idea what was happening. Freaked me out.

Were you aware of the 12th century German Mystic, Hildegard of Bingen? She experienced mystical visions of shimmering colors throughout her life. She attributed her vision to glimpses of heaven... Today it's commonly thought that she was experiencing optical migraines...

No, but I get cluster headaches. FML when those things hit.

I've gotten them a couple of times after eye strain from reading a lot and then going outdoors. It was weird, like looking through a cut glass prism. I was very lucky that I did not get a headache afterwards.

Go to a neurologist, they'll give you a script for Fiorocet or Fiorocel (I think that's the name of the one with codeine in it), it works great when you need it to but can cause rebound headaches if you take it more frequently than you need to. Literally completely knocks it out in like 10 mine
