What was the deal with Chavis and Alleva?

Seems odd that they had issues.

actually 2012, but I get your meaning...

it wasn't that we lost, but the WAY we lost with Les standing on the sidelines like a stunned mullet....

if he had put Mettenberger in with 4 wideouts...what did he have to lose?

Nope, but it might have been when we hired chavis' s best friend and recommended replacement.

Think about it, after that fat frick screwed us over, Miles hired his best friend and recommendations! Think about that for a second, let it sink in.

This is on Miles. The defense and offensive woes

Chavis probably saw this coming. That's why he wanted a 3 year deal

Anyone think it's weird that Chavis and Steele are from the same town? Conspiracy!

The beginning of the end was replacing chavis with Kevin Steele. Hiring O gave us some hope that Steele would use the talent well enough to get by. Steele had disaster written all over it, those who followed his career knew it would happen, we just were hoping to break the trend.

Does it really? It makes a ton of sense. Chavis wanted more money if Miles was fired, Aleva wanted to fire Miles so didn't want to cave to Chavis demands after the high salary he was already getting. Chavis left.

This is all part of Alleva's master plan

That's the truth...still was it Chavis v Miles or Chavis v Alleva?

I thought Chavis and Miles were OK

I believe you are right but not because of losing Chavis. I think Chavis' agent saw the handwriting on the wall for Miles and opted to get out...JMHO

This started well before Chavis left. Miles lost all ability to be objective about the offense and said himself something to the effect like "when things get like this I just put my head down and grind". Things got hard and he became even less exposed to outside influence. Then, he hired a yes man in Cameron to agree with him at every turn.

It took three years to develop Mettenberger into a good QB....that fricking absurd. No clue what to do with the talent they recruited.

This. Alleva's flat refusal to deal on length of contract and buyout was a loud and clear vote of no confidence in Miles. He conducted the negotiations in such a way that he probably knew Chavis would be insulted and walk. Then we got a cheaper guy to take his place.

If a new head coach were convinced to keep Frank Wilson and O for recruiting, then Alleva woundn't have to pay two of the buyouts. Grimes, Ball, and Raymond would likely get picked up somewhere for 2016, meaning theirs would be pro-rated. Peveto and Miles would be the only ones that would get full amounts.

It looks to me like Alleva has had a plan in place for at least a year now.

Mettenberger?

Miles didn't even try Lee. Saban broke Miles and made him quit that night and every season since.

Miles fricking him in 2012 when he "flirted" with Arkansas and Aleva has been waiting for his time.
