Darth - when was the last time a 4 engined prop-driven bomber was used in combat?

I've been trying to tell folks on here for a while now that Russia has a stronger, far more capable military than some want to believe. The weak and broke Russia of the 90's is gone. Russia has rearmed and are once again a global power capable of projecting devastating power on a global level. It's time for the U.S. And Europe to wake up and realize this.
And you wonder why people pile on you so often...

You better tweet this to the Dept of Defense.
Darth, always on the forefront.

The TU-95 is very similar from a capability standpoint to our B-52.

I'm sure you're right, but that was an honest question.
Korea, maybe?

What did I say that was incorrect? Russia has rebuilt their military while we and the rest of the West are busy cutting ours to the bone.

For the U.S., it was Korea. The Bear is a far different animal to the B-29's we used then though.

You come at these things with such a 20th century mindset. You see things in black and white when today's global security situation is grayer than ever. You insinuate that Russia is going to go on some campaign of conquest in every single Russia thread. You are like the Lindsey Graham of the OT.

What the frick are you talking about? I said they'd rebuilt their military and we should take notice. You are inferring things that I never said.

Why, after we and others have been fighting ISIS for a year, do they all of a sudden have such a target rich environment to bomb in the days post Paris? Should we have already bombed these obvious ISiS targets last year?.

As much as you miss your time in the Fulda Gap (and I miss my time in Darmstadt), the Cold War is over. The 'Bear' is, and has always been a paper tiger.

Would you call the B-52 a paper tiger? Yeah both are old and vulnerable as hell to modern anti-air assists, but they both can still deliver a shite ton of ordnance on target.

Kind of the point. Russia is not flying sorties over the lower 48 anytime soon.

Exactly. ISIS wants the world to come to Syria and kick their asses in order to bring on their visions of the Muslim end time.

Who said anything about the Russians sending their bombers over the lower 48 in bombing raids similar to what we did to Germany in World War II? If the Russians ever wanted to hit us here they would not do it by sending bombers over American airspace. Instead they would launch bombers who then would lunch cruise missiles before they ever reached American airspace. In addition to this, their main strikes would come in the form of ICBM's. Which the likelihood of any of that ever happening is beyond remote.

For those of you who follow this situation and politics in general, what effect could Russia's bombings have on US involvement in this conflict??

This is just not the case. They do not have the logistic capabilities to wage long campaigns far from home. Russia had enough trouble in Georgia, an immediate neighbor. Russia's conscript force is having trouble in Ukraine as well.
I could go on, but I just dont have the time.
I do agree with you, the US needs to recognize that our Cold War enemy never went away, he just took a brief nap. Europe needs to drop its socialist mental disease and start providing for their own defense, not us.
