I'm totally shocked to see this kind of piece in the local paper by the head sports writer. This is the type of speculation that is thrown around here and on local sports talk shows but not something usually found in the sports page.

Not true, LSU would be the laughing stock of the college football world firing a coach with Les record. We are already the laughing stock because of Les Miles

1. He recognizes the importance of hiring the best position coaches/coordinators; not just those he is familiar with
2. He lets that staff (for the most part) do their job b/c he recognizes that they are very good (i.e. Smart) and that they bring something to the game that he does not excel at (i.e. Kiffin, Cristobal)
How long did it take to fire Studrawa? Why the f*ck did he bring back Peveto? And by the way, Ensminger is still on the LSU staff. It's not a crime to admit your mistakes and correct them Les!
It's not just that LSU loses a few every year, it's how bad they play in the games they lose. I'll accept stubborn coaching if you have won 2 or 3 national titles, but when you get your a** handed to you by the conferences' elite, multiples years in a row, IDENTIFY AND FIX THE FUC*KING PROBLEM! He could lose to Alabama 99 times out of 100, but would feel totally justified with that one win. That's not leadership, that's being stubborn for the sake of being stubborn!

I think that an ad that refuses to say that he could pull trigger on next great LSU coach is not worth 900k a year either. Hell he doesn't even have a short list for next coach

It's true boys. Iff Leslie loses these next two games, it's party time over here in Tombstone!!

LSU went from 8-0 in SEC play in 2011 to 6-2 in 2012, 5-3 in 2013 and 4-4 in 2014. The Tigers are 4-2 right now. If they lose out, that would make LSU a mighty mediocre 13-11 in SEC games the past three years.

Overall, the Tigers are still passing only 32.4 percent of the time, lowest percentage in the SEC. Miles used to have power running allies in Bama’s Nick Saban and Arkansas’ Bret Bielema, but both have entrusted their offensive coordinators to use more modern methods to move the football.

There you go again confusing everything with the facts!

Auburn made a move to fire a head coach (Chiszick) one year after he took them to the NC, because it was clear that the only reason he got them there was that he had a once in a generation player (Cam Newton). Auburn promptly hired another very good coach who beat Bama and took them to the NC that very next year.
Bama went through 3 head coaches, firing the ones who couldn't get it done within 3-4 years until they finally focused like a laser and threw money at the one they wanted, the big fish and they they finally got him.
LSU rides a coach for Over 10 years and continues to renegotiate his contract and give him more money, even when it's clear, after multiple screw ups on National TV that are widely documented , that he doesn't have what it takes to run a big time program. Meanwhile, We continue to pound our head and hope for 'next year' because said coach got a top 5 recruiting class, only to witness the same product on the field, year in and year out.
That my friends is the difference in the programs.

All the cheerleading Pumpies in total denial are funny little creatures.
We're getting a kick out of it though.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbooboo.gif)

Miles is without question the worse coach in the SEC West...problem is LSU/Miles are in the SEC West.

I hope Miles stays at LSU forever just to make you miserable.

Those 2005-2007 teams were built for greatness. Saban had the program geared for the kind of run he's having now at Bama. The defenses were big and strong and he had fantastic offensive talent. Those teams, esp 2005-2006 resembled a Saban team.
2011 was simply the happy year that tremendous explosive defensive talent came together at the same time, led by Mathieu. That level of defense wasn't going to stick around long.
------
Finally. Someone said it.
I'd just assume take away the WL record from Les. I could have coached those elite teams

Pretty good read.
Though I do sometimes wonder how "sources" react to a reporter saying they "cultivated" them.

If Miles is terminated without cause before Jan. 1, he would be owed $15 million
Ok so January 2nd it is. Solves that.

do you think Miles could have 3 national titles at Bama in 8 years?
Miles finishing second and third place in the West would get him fired at Alabama.
10 win seasons and playing in the Cotton or Peach bowl is not tolerated or acceptable to that program.

Saban needed just as much luck for his, like most coaches do.
True, but all coaches that have won a NC have had some luck along the way. Saban is just more structured in his progress of running his programs than Miles is.

Look, I am ready for a change because I feel like the talent has been squandered the last two years but c'mon.
You can not put all the blame on Miles for losses and give him zero credit for wins. That's not how this works.

Saban isn't here and he isn't coming back. He has moved on. It's kind of sad how people still pine away for him.
