Going to get a big raise.

"While there has been no shortage of chatter regarding Tom Herman’s future of late, sources continue to tell FootballScoop that Houston is working on a new package for him, hoping to take him off the market. Will keep you updated"

He hasn't proven enough yet for schools to throw $5M a year at him. That type of money needs to be reserved for coaches that have been head coaches for years and won titles. Like the progression of Urban Meyer's career.

Houston should pay him until a blueblood job comes open and he has proven himself for more than a year at Houston.

I would want Herman at Georgia but not for a couple of years at least. He does need to prove himself for more than one year before he can demand 4 million a year. That said, I have no doubt that he can do it though. Seems like he's got that "It" factor.

Herman wants to coach at Texas. He's smart to just buy his time at Houston until Strong gets fired.

and this will be the problem when it comes time to hire a new coach. Every program now has big money due to the TV contracts and coaches can get raises from their current school without having to move. Gone are the days where you can outbid another school. YOu have to find the right mix of a coach wanting to leave and money. How many DCs got raises last year when LSU was looking for a new DC?

Herman might be positioning Houston for a Big 12 invite if he keeps it up there.
That would be a nice program to get for that conference to get to a title game and replace that area that A&M vacated.

Herman hasn't proven enough yet. The previous coach at Houston did leave some talent.

If A&M wants to pay that much for never winning the division, then more power to them.

One of the South Carolina sources (JC Shurbertt spelling?) posted a thread at 247 basically saying Herman will hold out for a bigger job. That is the move he should make.

For stability sake, South Carolina would be better off going for Smart.

Heard this same thing.

I don't see TX canning Strong for at least another year, though. He's trying to recover that program from the Mack Brown mess he was left with.

That's why he needs to stay at Houston. The only job open with real national championship chance is USC

Herman can be patient. Some of the schools that are after him can't.
