Was Martin and Mickey leaving actually a very good thing?

I was under the impression that if they stayed, we would have been a better team. After watching this team play, I am starting to think them leaving was a great thing. Martin and Mickey would not have shared the ball like these guys do so far. They would want their touches and the offense might have been just as stagnant as it has been in the past.
Martin and Mickey are great players and did a great job for the LSU program, but I think this team is better off without them.

Sometimes, it is good for programs to start fresh with new leaders in the locker room.
I'm not saying M&M were bad influences at all, but this team is playing well right now. Your point may be valid. (Obviously, it is very early.)

this is idiocy. the Tigers would be penciled in as title contenders had Mickey/Martin stayed.
Simmons at point-forward 3. Martin at 4. Mickey at 5.
depth for days. this team will be good. but let's not be delusional.

Mickey would help make this team more complete.

Maybe but could you imagine Martin Mickey and Simmons on the floor at the same time?
That would be one of the greatest front courts ever to play at LSU and maybe the SEC.

Martin and Mickey were lazy and selfish at times the last two years. What i have seen so far this year is that this team is completely unselfish with the basketball. Not saying they wouldn't help this year but i really really like this team right now. And we haven't seen Victor, who is more athletic than people think, and the most unselfish guy of all, Hornsby.

Very true, but Jones' coaching style is very up tempo and it looks like these players can play that way. Mickey wasnt very good in transition. Maybe their half court offensive skills would only make this team better, but I have my doubts.

No doubt they looked good but kennesaw is awful. Grain of salt here boys

Mickey would 100% helped this team be more complete. His defense/rebounding would have been ideal for us.

A frontcourt made up of three 5 star players is a bad thing?

I hate to speculate this type of situation, but I love a guard oriented offense.
The other part of this formula you left out was that those two players were turnover machines. We have been impressive so far with a 38/18 assist to turnover ratio as a team. That's fantastic.

Mickey would have helped this team way more due to his rebounding and shot blocking. We have been out rebounded the last two games against so, so talent.

Martin and mickey would give this team added size but i like how this team is built. From what i've seen so far, this team really hustles. I dont think anybody would describe those two as big hustlers and they were very lazy on defense. Sure mickey had a ton of blocks, but he always gave up a ton of dunks and easy putbacks because he jumped at everything. And neither of them played helpside defense. If Victor can play helpside defense and be a good last guy on the press, then it will be a specisl year.

This is the most important difference! This is what CJJ wants his teams to be, this is his first LSU team that has multiple players over 6'3" that can create. their own shot and shots for others.

Bingo.

Martin would be at a loss on this team with Simmons taking all of his shine but Mickey is a the missing COG inside we could have used IMO.
I think with Mickey this team is Final Four and possible national title good.
Victor will help there when he gets eligible but I highly doubt he would be on the same level as Mickey would have been this year. This team's biggest problem will be when we face a team with good bigs.

Yeah having 2 current NBA players would make this team worse
