Alright folks so here's my situation. I have a pair of Macks Big Ditches that have three seasons on them with no issues. Two years ago, I found a pair of Drake breathable waders for like $45 at a tent sale. I bought them to see whether I liked them more than neoprene, and it turns out I did. Way mo betta. My question is this. The Drakes are ripped near the belt, and the Macks now have a leak in the boot. Can't find the leak and I doubt Macks will warrant it. So I think I'm gonna get a new pair and I'm gonna go with breathables. That being said, the material the Drake ones are made out of is total crap and the boots have cracked in 100 places. I'd like to get a higher quality pair this time but have no experience with breathable waders outside of those.

What say you, all knowing, duck smashing OB?

I know "Banded" is very flat bill and white sunglasses, but trust me when I say to get the Banded Redzone. Somehow, those cats figured the waders out.

I have a pair of cabelas breathable waders

My first pair started leaking at a couple of seams after 2-1/2 seasons and I sent them in for a warranty check. They sent me a brand new pair.

I'm happy with the product, but like all waders, they all end up leaking after a few years unless you baby them.

I only lightly use my waders so dont value my opinion as much as others. I bought Cabelas breathable for same reason as Croaka... the warranty/return policy. I was told waders are a wear item, as in they see wear and tear over their useful life. I bought Cabelas so I could return them pretty much no questions asked. Mine dont fit my legs well so they could be a chore to do some serious distance in. Overall Im satisfied though and I am buying my wife a pair in the coming weeks.

Budget? Stocking foot or Boot foot?

The orvis encounter waders are under $200 and pretty damn good. They aren't brush busters though. Their silver sonics are in the $300-400 range, and very very good. Paired with good boots you can hike for miles.

I wore a pair of Patigonia skeena river waders recently to Wyoming and they are fricking awesome but they are a little spendy at $400.

If your pockets are deep enough the Simms G3 are as good as you would expect and their G4 is the goat.

Good break down from Yellowstone angler, unlike their rod reviews this wader shootout is worth reading Wader Shootout

I got orvis silver sonic waders and if you walk a bunch they're the best. Get good boots and it's like walking in knee boots to scout ducks. However they will get cold though.

This. I'm loving mine in their second season. Probably their 20th hunt, plus worn them fishing and frogging and no issues. Been through some nasty stuff and they haven't checked up.

Game Winner® Men's Tred-Lite Breathable Boot-Foot Waders - $139.99

I wear them walking in a lot, often walking up a mile and the boot is comfortable and the waders are plenty flexible. I've worn them in 80 degree weather and in 20 degree weather standing in waist deep water all day and all that changes is what I wear underneath them. HIGHLY recommend them.

The price on those is cool. I've heard bad things though. I'm pretty hard on my stuff and I hunt a lot. If I could spend $140 and get two seasons out of them I'd be pretty happy. How is the boot insulation in those? Also what's the warranty like?

I've been looking at Cabelas stuff just because I've always heard their warranty is the best.

It's very light. I where wader socks when the temps drop and my feet stay toasty.

I cant guarantee anything, but I've seen nothing so far indicating this would be a problem.

They used to have lifetime warranties on their waders but recently changed their policy to only 1 year warranty on waders so this really isn't a factor anymore IMO.

Cabelas Dry Plus, big fan. Wear them in teal season with shorts on, comfortably! Wear them in reg season with wader pants on; they're my go-to for sure.

That's a little more than I want to spend to make myself even indirectly associated with this guy:

Srsly though, for me, that's too much for breathable waders.

Well the GWs are actually a hybrid with neo on the bottom and breathable up top. I also hunt the marsh and they're great for what I do/need. Good pockets and some nice fleece hand warmers that are pretty clutch.

i quit buying expensive waders that i only get a couple seasons out of unless i store them in a hyperbaric chamber...game winner from here on out, silicone them when they leak, them toss when they are beyond repair

I really like those too. I'm kind of more in line with the idea that no matter what I do, I'm too hard on my stuff for waders to last me more than 2 seasons. So maybe I should just go with the cheaper option with the GWs. I'm a total woman when it comes to my feet being cold though, so that thin boot might be a problem.

Me too and the GWs are plenty warm enough for me with some good socks
