The article says it is because of the "longstanding relationship with SEALs" SEALs are referred to as Frogmen.
I love Navy history and the only thing I can think of as far as a Frogmen relationship with UCLA is them swimming their semen in UCLA chicks

UCLA has that big of a relationship with the Seals? I thought they were mainly based out of the San Diego area?

If I remember correctly UCLA has NROTC and a Department of Naval Science. And the football team has trained with the SEALs before too.
It's a cool concept, I'm just not crazy about the execution.

Correct. I don't believe UCLA has any relationship with them in any capacity, but this was their tweet about the helmets:

They trained with them back in 2013 in the off-season as well. I have no idea if that's something they do yearly now or what.
People were asking if what the potential ties were. That's all I could figure.
