So you're generally happy with the products and performance, but are considering abandoning because you're not happy with the pace and order they bring the products out? And there isn't a customized package for your specific usage situation?

Those are your big complaints?

Honestly, you aren't a customer I would be worried about keeping, then, because you're impossible to satisfy. Heck, here I was thinking you were a dude.

When referring to dozens of smart devices, he wasn't just talking about a couple of TVs with apps and a remote, or even necessarily a Roku or Fire Stick. Although TV's part of it, there's also lights, thermostat, cameras, garage door, speakers, locks, and I'm sure a shite ton of others I'm barely familiar with (but if it exists, no doubt CAD's got it). Home automation is become increasingly popular, and not having a smartphone capable of connecting to the hub controlling it all would be a complete dealbreaker for those people.

wow. smarthome tech has only been around since the early 1990s with X10.

you might want to look up terms you aren't familiar with particularly if you're on the TECH BOARD replying to something you don't understand.

OK? I know no one using that type thing.

What the frick? I don't even know what to say to this shite. Do you think I was saying something that doesn't actually appear in the posts? Go back and re-read.

Did you even read my post?

I SAID I WAS happy up until recently when I bought a new car which does not play nice with Windows. I also said RECENTLY TMobile offered free streaming video on top of them already offering free music streaming so I would like to try it out. I can't. They don't have a carrier flagship windows phone.

I guess you are just as unhinged with Tech as you are with New Trek.

I am exactly the customer they want. I've been a huge fan for years. I've argued for them all of the time but it is pretty hard not to feel abandoned with their horrible effort to update phones.

The 920 came out 3 years ago without an update on AT&T. Verizon had a slightly updated phone but it didn't really beat the specs of the 920 and it was pulled after a fairly short period of time.

In the world of constant updates by the competition, they have waited 3 years. Yeah, I'm the one with the problem.

Oh this again. That phone has run every windows update except possibly one. A new phone for 8.1 would look and run just like a .....920. I know I would not want you for a customer.

no. i posted the fact the WINK app that is the 'brain' that controls all the smart locks, smoke alarms, thermostats, etc etc doesnt support windows phones rendering my entire house inoperable and you went off on a tangent about smart tvs

still cant figure out how you equated the two.

In the last thread I clearly stated I wanted an up to date phablet which we didn't have.

By your lowest of the low standards, as long as a phone works it should never be updated, nobody should expect updates and nobody will get one.

Sure seems like the competition thinks your business plan sucks. Maybe that is one of the reasons Softy has 3%.

This thread, I clearly state my car WONT frickING WORK with windows phone and TMobile DOESN'T HAVE a top notch phone.

Geez, you are a drama queen. Not like I spent the thread mocking Windows OS or phones, like 100% of the android and apple folks do.

I simply stated why it no longer worked for me. I'm glad it still works for you.

Edited because I realize I am in a grumpier than normal mood.

Well, I'm not saying that. But, one of the tradeoffs in going with Windows (vice Android or iOS) is that they are on Windows schedule - despite all their superficial efforts to the contrary, Microsoft is - at heart - a PC oriented company. Windows 8 and 10 are huge departures and in these efforts to grab a larger share of the mobile market may have alienated their core user base (see Windows 8 least popular Microsoft OS - ever - and that's saying a lot for a company that produced ME and Vista). But it is still a PC operating system, all the overlays and touchscreen crap notwithstanding. They're not going to update functions and features twice a year or so.

And Microsoft clearly wants you to buy a Surface Pro.

So - again, as in my first response in this thread - you are pissed off because the market doesn't have customized solution only for TigerMyth36 - right device, right OS, right carrier at the right time.

I'm surprised the user base doesn't have some sort of solution for you. It could be more of an issue with your car, than your phone (I'm spitballing, but I don't want to just be an arse and not at least try to help).

Boy howdy.

And, in all seriousness, good luck with it.

This is one steaming pile of shite. It isn't just me. Otherwise they would have better market share than 3%.

You are being nothing more than a fan wank if you think no updated flagship phone in 3 years is acceptable.

You need to take the Gates dick out of your mouth if you think that one carrier carrying your phone is acceptable. And that one carrier won't even carry the 950 XL.

They have 2 phones coming out. Just 2 and they can't get anyone to carry the XL. The head of TMobile alleged that Microsoft didn't even offer them either phone.

Not coming up with some deal to have your flagship phones on every carrier is a FLAW by softy. They have the money to take a loss if necessary. So not having your Flagships everywhere shows some form of management incompetence.

I didn't know other phone guys had permanent exclusives.

You knuckleheads keep attacking me when as stated, I clearly stated how I wish to use my phone and I can't do that with the Lumia line.

I didn't tell you to drop the phone. Just stated clear enough for a 5 year old to understand that I am at a breaking point because it no longer can do what I need the phone to do.

Please don't mistake my comments on the subject as fandom for Microsoft.

A. I only use Microsoft products on desktop - and I use only as little as necessary. I only use Microsoft browsers at work and to access .mil sites. I use OpenOffice, and

2. A lot of phones are restricted to carriers. Droid is exclusive to Verizon (or it was). Can't get Nexus on Verizon, and so forth.

Yeah - Microsoft has failed in this particular market, but I disagree with many of your superficial complaints - the reason you go with a Windows phone is that you want a consistent user experience across all your platforms and guaranteed compatibility.

Well, you still have that. But you want all of that AND the features and awesomeness that are the Android and Apple OSes - well you can't have that. Sorry. I don't know what else to tell you.

Microsoft sucks. It's like the weather. Everyone complains about it, but no one does anything about it. I was just surprised to find 1 semi-satisfied Windows phone owner (and, as we can see, that didn't last very long).

Also once again, I'm not attacking the OS. Heck, Windows 10 works on my 920 albeit a bit slow.

It just doesn't work for me anymore.

They've been notoriously bad with hardware - legendary, in fact. Of course, it is the partners they choose. I'm not saying Nokia didn't make affordable and rugged legacy phones, but it just doesn't leap to mind as a "go to" smartphone maker. Microsoft could have purchased Motorola. Google did, then later sold it to Lenovo. They can afford the losses generated by Motorola and could have used it to leverage their Windows phones into flagship status.

Hell, Microsoft could straight up buy a carrier like TMobile. They're pennywise and pound foolish.
