Royal China on Veterans is the best I've had. At lot of people seem to be impressed by Trey Yen (which is across the lake in Mandeville and Hammond), but I don't get it.

China Rose in Fat City is supposed to have a "Chinese Menu" that you have to ask for that is actual authentic Chinese food. And the place next to Hong Kong Market on the west bank has Dim Sum on weekends which is pretty good. Royal China also has a Dim Sum menu. Those are the only 2 places in NOLA that I know of that have Dim Sum.

I'm ok with Royal China, but they need to close that place down for a week and clean the hell out of that place.

I second or third this. We've been going here for 15+ years. The dim sum is way better than the one at Panda King, but more expensive.

If you have a big group to eat, you can try asking Mrs Shirley if they will do a special menu for you. I brought her jumbo shrimp, lobsters, clams, red fish and abalone. One of the best make I've ever had in the States. She wouldn't charge us, because I provider the proteins. My dad has also been her mechanic for as long as we've been going there. but if you want a really good meal for a group, I'm sure she could accommodate. We left a $250 tip. Great dinner for a family of 8 with 6 boxes of leftovers.
