My wife does want the light colored cabinets, not crazy about that quartz but it does go with the kitchen

The kitchen (and keeping room and laundry room and powder room) cost about 80% of what we paid for the house 22 years ago.

Yeah, the color and the movement in the stone are pretty much love it or hate it. Luckily, we love it!

We are at a point where it's spend 200k remodeling a 50 year old house or just build a new one.....we went with build a new one and will be starting next year

We still love our location, so we didn't want to start over.

Darla, my countertops haven't had so little on them since before I moved in! Your kitchen looks wonderful!

Thanks, Gris.
When I posted my finished kitchen photos awhile back, they were poorly done, taken by me.
The photos in this thread are a few from the ones taken by the kitchen designer. I staged the kitchen with fresh flowers, and bowls of lemons and green apples. I hadn't browsed Houzz for months on end without learning something! (I kind of wish I had waited until after she took photos to make a thread here.)
But even still, my counters are mostly clear. We keep the coffeemaker out, but not much else. I actually have a place for everything, and so far I enjoy seeing an expanse of uncluttered counters.
ETA: sorry for the thread jack

Darla, your shade of blue is so refreshing and the stone looks much better installed than a sample. Beautiful!

Wanted white Quartz, until I got a sample and tested w/mustard, ketchup, and blue food dye. No way, stained, stained, stained.
I've had Silestone quartz for about 3 years and nothing. I even have little chaps that love to leave puddles of fruit juices on it.

I'm thinking about a black now, but afraid to see the smears and streaks.
I have a brushed aluminum backsplash that I want to use
In laws have black and the smears aren't that bad but if you're going with brushed aluminum is it coated?

remember to hold back at least 25% of house cost for me to design you a badass exterior.

good question about the backsplash, I don't know if its coated.

The sample I posted earlier was granite we did NOT get. We went with a leathered quartzite called Fantasy Brown.

I'm more concerned with the exterior kitchen than the interior

anybody have black and regret it?
We have black granite and we don't like it. It shows water spots and streaks terribly. If you're OCD, you'll stay busy.
