Yale will probably fire the professor.
Absolutely no way Yale fires that guy. If anything he'll probably be celebrated by academia for being restrained but not backing down. I think there's beginning to be a push back from professors on this nonsense and they're not quite as handcuffed as high school teachers who have to just take the abuse.
If Yale does fire him, I will be seriously reconsidering my enrollment there in the spring.

This is what Yale has become? What happened to that whole "Yale thing"?

This bitch is what most of the obama administration was 15-20-30 years ago.

They generally had thicker skin. They loved bucking authority.
These new young social justice freaks want an authoritarian government that squashes anything that offends their delicate sensibilities.

absolutely no way he gets fired. It is Yale, I would not be shocked if they tried to make a statement and punished the student.

Hopefully she's expelled and then understands what a hurt feeling is.

The Professor made one critical misstep in this video. When the woman said they were thinking of transferring he should have said I will write you a recommendation to the school of your choice because that's how I roll.

I am glad I will probably be dead.

I watched the video first, not knowing anything about the story. Judging the reaction, I would've thought the professor dressed like little black sambo running from a tiger for Halloween.
Then I read the email. I guess I need to check my privilege cause I still don't understand wtf is so offensive.

You don't have the right not to be offended.

this is a result of a generation thats grown up entirely with the internet. they have the ability to find an echo chamber that agrees with their sheltered/coddled view and reinforces it to this extreme point.
we are guilty of this here to some extent. you can easily tell the LSU fans who never venture outside of the rant by their sheltered/defensive responses to anything negative about LSU. of course that is relatively harmless sports fandom.

Agreed.. Or something like "Good, someone so quick to anger and offense is not Yale material".

This mindset that is offended by everything and demands censorship may seriously frick up some institutions of higher learning's ability to actually shape young minds and prepare them for reality.
Apparently if you want to avoid censorship, you have to go to a more conservative minded college.

The world is a shithole for the logically minded. It's pretty depressing really that this is reality.

This is, sadly, a political voice that is growing in power rapidly.
It's like a 180 from the days of demanding the right to freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and equality while fighting censorship.

I've seen the change in my lifetime. The ideology that once craved independence now cries for safety and security.
