My neighbor is much the same. He's a half crazy retired cop and always has that look, regardless of the situation or who he's interacting with. And he's always packing.

Get to know the old guy, he may be pretty cool. I never worry about anyone messing around the house when I'm gone. He's like the unofficial neighborhood watchman.

Maybe you look sketchy or drive too damn fast down the street and he's just silently judging you, while wondering if he should fear for his life. Slow down, get a haircut, turn the music down, be a decent neighbor and introduce yourself and you might be alright.

But go meet him armed just in case, and make sure he sees your weapon.

Everyone's giving the guy a bunch of shite and debating whether it's a crime.

The bottom line if what he said is all true, that is a potentially fricked up situation especially if you have a family. The right thing to do was file a report in case it escalates.

You "assume" he was trying to scare you. Maybe he didn't recognize your car and was being an alert neighborhood watchman like that Zimmerman guy. You should go tell him thanks for keeping you safe.

I wouldn't worry about the gun too much. If there's one thing that I've learned from the OT--it's that the threat level of an individual can easily be judged by the condition of the guy's knuckles.
