I met Peter Cetera and he was really nice. I sang a few lines of "If You Leave Me Now" for him. I think he's shy because he seemed a little uncomfortable.

Because when you meet Peter Cetera, it's like "How am I not going to sing the first few lines of "If you leave me now" to him...I admit I would do something like this as well.

John 5 was probably the most laid back.

I met some of The Mars Volta. They were all pretty nice. Omar was a little quiet.

I met Craig Minowa from Cloud Cult. Nicest guy on the planet.

Met Josh Tillman (Father John Misty) before he started FJM. He was a really laid back, very approachable. He gave me his album that he had just released when I asked if I could buy it.

Haven't had any bad experiences.

Jim James was awesome (from what I remember of the night)
I sat next to Stanton Moore on a flight and he was a nice dude, but some people have mixed experiences
Jakob Dylan is a jackass
Ben Jaffe from Preservation Hall is kind of a prick, but we did have a good time with him. Clint is a lot nicer.
The guys from Eve 6 were awesome when I met them as a young teenager. Somehow ended up backstage at their show and they were more than happy to let us hang with them.

Kirk Hammett - I only talked to him over the phone, but he seems like a super nice guy. My mom called me when she was at a restaurant in NYC to tell me Metallica was eating there. Before I could stop her, I hear her walking over to their table and begging them for an autograph, etc. (I was mortified). She shoves the phone in his hand and he graciously talked to me for thirty seconds before signing an autograph for me.

Posted this in the other thread.

Cool musicians I have met were members of Grateful Dead (Weir, Lesh, Hart, and Billy K.), Joe Perry was super cool, sat on flight in first class from LA to Dallas next to Smokey Robinson, and Charlie Watts was super nice and friendly in a reserved British way....met quite a few lesser names...hung out and partied with the Violent Femmes one night.....oh, and briefly met Flea from the Chili Peppers once.

Douchebags: REM although Bill Berry was OK...and Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth is a total a-hole but expected no less.

In the middle: Henry Rollins who is just an intimidating looking dude who you wouldn't want to make chit chat with......wasn't necessarily an a-hole but not approachable to say the least.

Talk to him about reptiles, especially venomous snakes.

Story please

I used to work at a hotel close to a music venue and artists stayed there all the time. Usually their manager came in, got he keys for everyone, and the artists would sneak to their room, especially the big names. Many even stayed under aliases. Anyway, the night Biggie stayed there, his crew rolled into the parking lot at 8 that morning demanding their rooms. We were able to get them into 3 of their 5 reserved rooms, but of course the suite Biggie wanted wasn't available. The prior guest had not even checked out yet. He was a jerk about it and claimed it was because he was black. Later that afternoon, they were smoking hella blunts in one of the rooms, and I called the manager asking if they could be a little more discreet with it. You could literally smell it on the entire hallway. This was back when there were smoking and non-smoking rooms, and they were in a smoking room, so the smoke wasn't a concern, just the weed smell. He gave the entire staff an attitude the entire time, and of course the next morning all the rooms were trashed.

I left one off the nice list. Harry Bellafonte is literally one of the nicest guys I've ever met. It was amazing how out of his way he went to speak to the entire hotel staff, and it was genuine.

Another one just popped into my killed to many brain cells brain...

Michael Hutchence from INXS (R.I.P)...he was in town to play a show and was sitting in the food court of a local office tower complex having a sandwhich for lunch and reading the paper.

He was a totally nice guy as well.....

Another story from same hotel.

Patty Loveless stayed there for a show at the same venue, but for some reason I never knew, she stayed 2 nights. The night of her show, and the next night. That 2nd night she stopped at the front desk and started chatting with me and the girl working with me that night. Stayed there for about a half hour just shooting the shite with us, and at my co-worker's request sang Amazing Grace. She was very down to earth and friendly. I've had a bit of a crush on her since.

Linda Davis invited me and a buddy to fly back to Nashville with her and her band. Her manager didn't look thrilled with the idea, though.

Ken Stringfellow/Posies. Went to see them at their reunion show in Nashville a few years ago. Went to get my CD signed and he was just so laid back and cool. He ended up inviting me to party with them across the street so we proceeded to have a few drinks after the concert.
