PSG has lot's of money but is extremely small time.

I dunno Juve made it to the champions league final just this last season.
Then they sold their good players and now they are behind Sassuolo in the Italian table. Pogba will be gone soon as well.

Villa is a more successful club than City.
I wonder if they'll feel that way when they are in the Championship next year watching City win the Prem for the 3rd time in 5 years.

History, fanbase, and sustained success.

Big clubs in Russia are all based in Moscow. CSKA, Dinamo, and Spartak.

So you don't consider Zenit a big club?

This is the equivalence of saying that Army is a more successful college football team than Florida.
Technically, yes I suppose. But it really has no bearing in the world we live in today.
From an American perspective yes, but it isn't quite so cut and dry in English sporting culture. I wouldn't say Villa is a more successful club than City, but I understand his point.
A "big club" means a place with history, fans, and some form of sustained success at some point in their history. Its not necessary equivalent to what we would think of when we label an American club as "successful." I equate it more to what we think of when we say a college football team has "tradition." Notre Dame, Harvard/Yale, Texas, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Tennessee all have tradition regardless of whether they are successful any particular year or not.

A ´destination´ or the equivalent of a player´s ultimate goal (as in, if I´m here, I´ve made it, it´s the pinnacle of the profession).
Tied to results and history (which is born of results).
I don´t get how people are saying Aston Villa is a ´big´ club.
They´ve got some history, that´s about it.

PSG has world class players and wins championships. This is due to money. Success breeds fandom and growth.
No team is relevant without cash.
You guys are getting too caught up history and culture.

There are 3 clubs (maybe 4) in the world that fit this bill. It shouldn't be included as criteria.

No "we" aren't. The English are. It's their sporting identity that uses these two metrics as criteria.

Ok, then the English have a screwy definition.
Being a big club requires winning and you only win with the best players... And those cost a boatload these days.

On a world stage, yes. I think the following clubs suffice as being a relative pinnacle (relative, as in they will be enough for many premiere players, not all, but many):
Real Madrid
FC Barcelona
Bayern de Munich
Manchester United
Chelsea
PSG
Juventus
AC Milan (yes, lately, a dubious election)
Atlético de Madrid, maybe
Arsenal, maybe
Liverpool, maybe

I'd absolutely agree with this. It's a bizarre idea.

These were exactly the 4 I was talking about.

Out of these only an argument can be made for Chelsea, IMO. The rest are full of players who would and have jumped at the opportunity to move to the first 4.

AC Milan has a good argument to be "bigger" than any club in the world after Real Madrid but I'm not sure many top players consider it a great destination right now.
I'd also say Inter is pretty high up the list, similar to, say, Liverpool, in terms of history/success/ stature.

I consider Zenit a big club, but before Gazprom took them over, they had only won the league once.

They are/should be. Their image has really been sullied by their past seven to ten year history.

let's go with 7 b/c they've won the champions league within the past 10 years
they also signed a super duper star in ronaldinho in that time period (which was maybe the symbolic beginning of their slide into the madness we see today)
