Anyone know people selling egg laying chickens in Baton Rouge area

Buying laying hens is expensive, people want $20-$30 right now and you you may be getting some old hen that's not producing as much or has health problems. Get some black sex link chicks for a few bucks a piece, if you want 5, buy 10 or 15 because some aren't going to make it and you can always sell the extra's.

I'd wait until spring. They don't lay as many eggs in the winter. Lights and heat help, but not worth it to me.

man, you should buy some chicks in the spring and they will be laying before it even gets hot...buy hens now and you will basically feed them all winter for nothing...
