I heard he had a few drinks at an after party for one of Urban's book signings.

You know, the one about being a leader and role model and such.

.08 BAC is more than two drinks for a 225 lb adult.

I'm not saying he should have been driving. He shouldn't. But it's ignorant to act like he was so drunk he was all over the road.

Why does this matter?

You're asking for a 5 game suspension for someone who was slightly over .08. So if you want to stay consistent with suspensions and "potentially killing people", the MPH over the speed limit shouldn't matter to you. It's breaking the law regardless.

I'm not acting like he was anything. I don't care how drunk he was. He is 20 years old, got drunk, and then decided to drive. It's ignorant to act like what he did is no big deal.

It matters a great deal. .08 BAC is illegal everywhere in Ohio that I'm aware of. 6 MPH could be speeding in some places. Don't be stupid. You know what the difference is between the two. If you want to get into a huge debate over the differences between speeding and drunk driving, find someone else.

I hate to burst your bubble, but you can kill somebody every time you get behind the wheel. Stop saying this like he was buzzing pedestrians crossing the street.

Well my point is that you're using the very extreme outlying incidents when the driver was completely inebriated, FAR above the legal limit, and presenting them as a reasonable outcome to this situation. It's emotional reasoning.

It would be like saying the speeder going 65 in a 55 is just as dangerous as the speeder going 100+. They are both speeding, but their behaviors and likely outcomes of their behaviors are white different.

Going on a milk run and driving home drunk are the same in your mind?

I don't know what he was doing, and neither do you. He tried to run from a checkpoint, got caught, and was drunk. We do know that.

I didn't speculate anything as to his ability to drive. He made it home, and I'm glad he did so without injuring himself or others, but that's it. What he did was extremely stupid and he should sit for it.

Once again, speeding =/= drunk driving. No matter how much you want to force that comparison, it isn't the same thing.

Never said it isn't, or acted like it isn't. I've said he was in the wrong to drive.

My argument is it's his first run in with the law and he was right at the limit. I don't see how that warrants a 5 game suspension.

It matters a great deal.

No it doesn't. In either situation, you've exceeded a limit in which law enforcement feels that other people's safety becomes threatened.

Are you really unable to understand the analogy?

I really don't like to rag on other Buckeye posters, but I'm glad I'm not the only one that has noticed how terrible of a poster he is.

(there are like 2 others just as bad too )

Well, not really.

Well, it probably won't be. That's Urban Meyer's decision. If it were mine, he'd be done for the season. I was a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps, and I'd go to bat for any of my Marines against anyone, up to and including the battalion commander. DUI was the exception to that. If you don't feel the same, that's fine for you.

Since you cut the rest off, I'll just repeat it in response.

Well, that's great to hear. I take back what I said about the season, but I still think it has to be more than one game for this.
