no...IIRC EGR should remain closed once turned off..."if" it's functioning properly and for some strange reason isn't stuck open or partially open.
blocker plate on LMM is tough to do as opposed to earlier years due to it's revised location...it still can be done if you insist on doing it.

xactly this is my last diesel. Love it, but not worth it.
What are you experiencing?

Incredible power, great mpg, reliability, etc. Deleted trucks with moderate tunes are 10x as reliable and just as eco-friendly. My need for a diesel is gone though and no longer worth the risk, if the epa cracks down.

There are no emissions laws/testing for diesels in Louisiana.

Just as Eco friendly
I hear this a lot and it's absolutely not true. Tuned and deleted trucks pump out much more NOx and SOx than factory. Not blowing soot does not equal "eco friendly." If it were true, you'd be buying them off the lot that way.
I wouldn't shy away from the newest diesels out there. The SCR systems are very good and the engine builders pretty much have it figured out. SCR is a good thing.

A 20% increase in fuel economy is greater than what ever emissions are saved.
Then we still get the side effects of increased reliability and better driving trucks.

It isn't. You get 20% better fuel economy in the best case with emissions on par with pre-regulation days.
Don't shoot the messenger here. I'm in the industry and try to make sure everyone understands what's going on. You are making your truck spew exponentially more crap out of the pipe than federal regulations say it is allowed to and are subjected to action from the EPA.
Embrace the SCR and urea tanks. It's far better than everything you had on the lot from 2003 to 2011.
