Those are very cool. I don't see how that could possibly be printed on as a sphere though. It's still a two dimensional image.

They've been gluing paper strips to globes for centuries without issue. You can use ptgui or photoshop to warp the image into a sphere.

The inherent difficulty is managing distortion of foreground objects and Establishing an eye catching focal point, and any sporting event will require excessive work to mask movement in multiple stitched frames. For all but a few dedicated hobbiests, most people will be disappointed with the end result. It's also a giant headache lugging a monopod with a rrs multi pano rail and hdr blending stitches together to compensate for shadows.

for those reasons I through in the towel on the process a couple years ago.
