this seems like the Border Patrol didn't really want to go since the university didn't tell them they couldn't come and the petition was only signed by 600 people, and most of them were not even students

Yeah, I doubt there are many kids in the UC system just itching to work for Border Patrol or INS.

If ten percent of that 600 showed up and protested it would ruin your recruiting efforts. They would shout you down all day. I can see why they might not want to waste their time.
