....come on, brah.

A couple delusional Bama fans in there (e.g., Coker a better scrambler, though a Bama fan corrected him on that), but overall they have a pretty fair assessment.
Can someone give me an honest assessment of Bama's D? I haven't watched their games. How do they compare to Florida's D and what can we expect to execute well against them?

If it comes down to ST then we better make all our punts travel as far as possible and then go out of bounds. And make sure all our kickoffs go for touchbacks. We are doing horrible on P/KO coverage this year.

I think my biggest takeaway after reading some of that is fans don't really watch other teams very closely. They look at the box score and see that LSU is giving up about 3 TD's a game. No one seems to notice that most of those scores come in the second half after LSU has a lead.
Others think that Harris has only looked good the past two weeks because he has tons of time to throw. However, a stat was posted today that he leads the league in completion percentage under pressure.
Also, opposing fans seem to say that the defense has regressed, but I think they have really improved at the point of attack. The Tigers are really getting pressure on the QB, and have been able to stop the run. This leads to teams needing to throw the ball more, and I think we'll see the DB's settle down once Mills is starting again.

Bama is significantly better against the run. They are clearly the best in the nation. Their secondary is very talented but very inexperienced.

I have watched all of their games as well, and I have also been to 2 of their games(wife is a grad, inlaws have a box, live 25 minutes away), and they do have a decent defense. They are porous up the middle of it though. Beckwith and Jones are really good at the LB spot, and Neal and Godchaux are pretty good ends. The dbacks are very athletic, but take tons of chances...not much discipline. They make a ton of tackles back there, and play man almost exclusively.
For someone who has watched all of the games. They sure get a lot of things wrong.

And some have also come with the opposition having a short field to work with.

Even more impressive considering how much 4-2-5 they've played. LSU has the number 1 rush defense in the SEC versus only conference games at 83 yards per game and 3 total TD's. LSU also leads in sacks per SEC game at 3.5/game. Impressive turnaround from last season and even the last 2-3 years.

Well we hadnt scored a TD in 11 quarters against them from the start of the 2011 game to the second half of the 2013 game, but that didnt stop us from from putting up 2 TDs in the next 2 quarters. Great things about trends from the past, is they can be broken and dont dictate the future.

Deceptive speed
A possession scrambler.

With the exception of the muffed punt, field position is part of the game.
LSU really needs to find an answer with punting though. Brad Wing was such a weapon in 2011.

Damn, that board is a posigump circle jerk.

This speaks volumes. Until this turns around we're a soft voice.

Playing the second half is part of the game as well. Just saying.
I was trying to make a point of how well the defense has done so far this year.

Bama's special teams have been bad as well. Most educated Bammers that actually went there or follow the program closely know their football. The bandwagon types and total rednecks, not so much: sound familiar.
Anyway the smart ones are worried about the game with LSU.

I have no doubt Gumps will be fired up and will give us their best. But we will be just as fired up and just as ready to go to war. They are good. Florida's D is very good. It's going to be tough, but one stat that just gets glossed over is 43-37. Gumps got beat at bds by ole miss. This unbeatable force the color of menstrual flow has already been beat by a very mediocre team. Doesn't mean we will beat them, but does mean they can and have been beat.

Yea, but giving up points when you have a nice lead is typically called "garbage time." True, it hasn't always been the case, but Miles has been bad at times just trying to run the clock out once he has a lead. My point is that some of the scores are not fully indicative of the way the game was played. That being said, I would like to see the defense begin to close out games.
