booking a hunt at an industry trade show... yes or no?

ive learned through the OB never to buy a gun at a gun show. is it the same concept for hunts?
im planning on booking a hunt for August. Trade show is in January (which i will be attending). However top outfitters get booked up pretty quick. so im caught between waiting for the show to maybe get a deal vs missing an opportunity w/ a respected outfitter. do they usually run a special during shows?
its a dall sheep hunt in Alaska and i will be attending the sheep show

I would think that pricing at any given time is more a factor of what they already have booked.
Then again, if I had to pay for a booth and stand there all weekend, Im sure gonna try to make some money...

A trade show is a good choice for booking a hunting trip. I would have my reservations...

A dall sheep hunt is a huge investment. I am sure you have already done your homework. I would rather pay 5-10% more to get the outfitter and dates you want than pick leftover dates at a discount and possibly have to choose a different outfitter. If you have a superstar outfitter already picked out, I would call him and be honest. Ask for a minor discount if you book early instead of at the show. If he knows he will fill the spot either way (which really good outfitters know) than he will probably not discount it.
Never hurts to ask though.

Why would you not buy a gun at a gun show?
