So, you are asking what would happen if his production suddenly plummeted down to mere mortal territory would he win the Heisman? You do realize that his WORST game of the season was significantly more than your hypothetical AVERAGE for the rest of the season?
Yes. This is what I am asking.
Mainly trying to get a sense of who else out there is worth talking about. I'm in Houston. So UH is the only small school getting discussed here. All other talk is A&M to UT.
I forgot about TCU QB. this thread reminded me.

If he breaks off a long run against Bama in a tight game to secure victory for LSU he'll have it in the bag
Not to mention he gets A&M's kindergarten rush d at home to end the season.

They seem reasonable or at least within the realm of possibility. The hogs are stout against the run and I don't see a 200+ yard day there but I would love to see him run wild on that porous A&M run D.

Fournette will be able to run for however many yards he pleases against TAMU

I hope if LSU is still in playoff contention he would be on a yard count.

I agree with this.
I mentioned Boykin earlier just to answer the question of "who else is out there". I think the Heisman is Fournette's as long as LSU wins double digit games.

Boykin - TCU QB
Dalvin Cook's stats at FSU are actually more impressive overall. 40 less carries on the season, and better ypg, etc.

The better LSU plays as a team, the less pressure there is on Fournette to produce ridiculous numbers. If LSU loses 2 or 3 games Fournette can still win the Heisman, but he will probably need to throw in another 200 yard game or two in that scenario.

one can make the argument that he should be the early leader for the award
No one, and I mean no one, has any case for the Heisman leader except Leonard Fournette.
The only conversation is who gets to go watch Leonard accept the trophy in NY.
Leonard isn't just a great player having a great year. He's a great player who is making a push for being considered the greatest to ever play his position.

My top 5
Fournette
Boykin
Coleman (Baylor WR)
Cook
My last spot is between Seth Russell, CJ Prosise, Josh Doctson, Greg Ward Jr, Christian McCaffrey, and Deshaun Watson I guess.

I'm sure there will be a late candidate that will emerge, but they wont be able to catch LF7 if he stays at 125ish yards per game in Novemb
That won't be a problem. Fournette is likely to get 300 yards in less than 3 quarters against TAMU. He was at 227 with 10:28 to go in the 3rd quarter against Auburm, 158 with 10:30 to go in the 3rd against South Carolina, and would have been at 331 if that TD had hadn't been called back against Syracuse. Oh, he's definitely going over 300 in a game at least once this year.
So let's say he goes for 350 in that game, he'll only need an average of 50 yards a game against Bama, Ole Miss, and Arky to hit 125 per game in November.

I think besides Boykin, the biggest risk to LF is Henry at Bama. He's knocking on 1000yds already, and has 12 td's. With Drake getting hurt his load will probably increase as well. If bama is somehow able to stop fournette and Henry has a big game, I suspect the heisman narrative will change significantly. Obviously, I hope we shut Henry down, though.

Baylor was up by 24 in the fourth quarter last Saturday and still throwing the ball 40 yards downfield in his direction.
They don't let up. How many times has Miles either had them kneel or just play keep away for 6mins. LF7's TD ranking could easily be higher.

When are we going to start seeing voter fatigue for these types of QB's? It seems every year we have a record-breaking QB of some sort.
Seth Russell is on pace to break the single season total TD record. That dude has 32 total TDs right now, with no defense worth a far on his schedule upcoming outside of sack city Oklahoma St. His next 3 games
Iowa State -
1) Pat Mahomes 71.7% 428 yards 5 TDs 0 ints, 9.3 ypa
2) Trevone Boykin 84.4% 436 yards 4 TDs 0 ints, 13.6 ypa, 74 yards rush 1 TD, 5.69 ypc
Kansas St -
1) Trevone Boykin 66.7% 301 yards 2 TDs 2 ints, 10.0 ypa, 124 yards rush 2 TDs, 11.27 ypc
2) Baker Mayfield 74.1% 282 yards 5 TDs 0 ints, 10.4 ypa, 33 yards rush, 3.67 ypc
Oklahoma - Dane Evans 66.7% 427 yards 4 TDs 0 ints, 8.4 ypa
So his stat line will stay going up. Same for his WR Coleman.

still thinks he needs a showcase game against Bama.
That's bullshite to me though. Boykin or Russell would win it having played zero defenses that were actually good.

Actually they definitely aren't more impressive. Cook has a passing game that is averaging 253.7 yards and 2 TDs per game. Fournette would rape teams under these conditions. Also, Cook had 54 yards and averaged 3.68 ypc against BC. BC's rush defense isn't near what the stats indicate it is. I mean look at the teams they have played. Neither outside of FSU run worth a damn.

LOL hell no to all of this. Bama ain't stopping Fournette and Henry may have a 100 yards, if that, against LSU. Henry's big arse was suckling wind at the end of that game and he went from about 170 something on 10 carries, to 60 on 22 carries.
Henry, even with that big game against TAMU plus an extra game on him, is 2 TDs behind Fournette, 300 yards behind Fournette, and averaging 5.93 ypc to Fournette's 8.01 ypc.
